Hi, I've also experienced fucous in the throat. But recently I worked with a Speech Therapist (of all people) and she right away saw the throat mucus. She stated clearly that constantly clear the mucus was only stimulating more mucus so she stated clearly that I needed to stop clearing my throat but drink (sip for me) some water and wash it down...and not clear up by coughing or squeezing my throat to remove it. Have been doing this for a couple of weeks and already I'm seeing some reduction of mucus. I hope this suggestion may help. Simple enough that mucus expulsion is only generating more mucus!

A speech therapist said to me that continued coughing up phlegm only reinforces it production. So she stated clearly that I should wash down any phlegm with water every time it occurs. Slowly this reduces the amount and time of phlegm production. Simply coughing it up only reinforces its production in your throat. Hopefully this helps.

Hi @kwal. Know you've read a lot so hopeful this new to you 🤞. First simple try of vitamin c gummies, only couple a day low sugar…, can cut into small pieces to suck on throughout day. Other that helped me tremendously was food/drink anything consumed diary with any change in cough mucous or any other reaction🙃. Histamine was my new item to avoid and then a trained nutritionist for accurate/tailored consumption help for you🤞. Quickest recovery wishes🌈

@kwal
Thanks for this feedback. Yes, have tried various medications with no benefit. But a Speech Therapist did recommend that I swallow any phlegm (or wash it down with sips of water) since coughing it up only produces more phlegm. It simply reinforces the problem. Hope this helps. Try swallowing or washing it down persistently (not coughing it up) and see if this ends the reinforcement. Try it.

This is the most frustrating condition! I was prescribed Protonix 40 mg for years that i immediately stopped when my kidney function declined. I was finally diagnosed with LPR when i completely lost my voice. I was able to see the camera view (scope) of my swollen voice box. No voice for a month. I was advised to drink lots of water and take over the counter famotidine if necessary. I believe the LPR is a result of taking too many antibiotics for my chronic bronchiectasis. It's a no win situation.

I have the same problem. Feels like it’s too thick to move! No solution so far.
