Prolia treatment for osteoporosis: What is your experience?

I HAVE BEEN HAVING PROLIA INJECTIONS FOR 2&1/2 YEARS WITH NO SIDE EFFECTS & ITS WORKING FOR ME.

@quiteachiver75 oh, you are so lucky to be side-effect free. If I could/can figure out a way to stay on Prolia I would. It definitely has given me very good results.

Is Prolia the same as prolozone? I have done some research and found prolozone to work but have not tried it or discussed it with my doctor. maureenmurray1@me.com

No. Seems to be used for arthritis. Not related to Prolia also called denosumab. It is a biologic or monoclonal antibody.

Thank you for your posts. I am about to get my first Prolia shot and after reading some of the comments from others I was getting more and more afraid. Your posts have helped me decide its worth a try. I am almost 70 years old, have fibromyalgia and am on synthroid because I had Graves Disease but other than that I feel great :-).

@proloaconcern, is that photo your current view? If so, count me as jealous as I look outside to below zero windchills here in Minnesota.

Hi Justin: I'm really glad I found this group.

I have had 2 shots of Prolia and will NEVER take another. It is a terrible drug! I have pain in my legs, feel generally crummy and old, my finger joints are now permanently swollen, it has raised my blood pressure and I have lost about 1/4 to 1/3 of my hair! Prior to starting this drug, I was statistically in the top 5% of healthy Americans! Do lots of research yourself on the drug - do NOT believe what the doctors tell you. Check out all of the osteoporosis sites for information. I will take only calcium and ergocalciferol and exercise. Have your doctor calculate your risks of breaking a hip or bones in the next 10 years. My T score is -4.7 and the risks are like 28% and 38% of a broken bone in the next 10 years. I will take that risk rather than live with the results of these drugs. As you probably know, they all contain chemotherapy drugs and Prolia has a lot so consequently the results I got. It is used to treat bone cancer.

So sorry you've had severe reaction to Prolia shots. Researching and reading reviews from those who are presently or previously taken osteoporosis drugs I highly recommend for anyone considering taking them. One of the major issues I've had with the shots is that it is a long-lasting drug in your system, so if you do have concerning side-effects, it is going to take awhile before it is out of your system again. @cherriann That is exactly why I am hesitant to have a Reclast infusion - it lasts so long. It is what has been recommended but I told my endo that I need to make a decision on which drug I am comfortable taking.
