Post COVID hair loss: Will it grow back?

Posted by nichirschfield @nichirschfield, Feb 2, 2022

My husband had severe COVID in late Oct/early November, and now his hair is falling out rapidly. Has anyone else experienced this, and did it grow back?

Thanks,
Nicole

Did you also have fever, malaise, confusion, fatigue?
If so, was there an improvement in those as well?

My hair was thinning quite a bit before I was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s and Hypothyroidism. It could be that your husband also has a thyroid condition, which can cause hair loss. I am on Synthroid, 75 micrograms daily and I also take a vitamin brand Perque and they have a vitamin for hair, nails and skin that I do believe really helped me. Good luck!

I'm a 57-year-old male - Fourth Covid infection in July, 2024, which developed into Long Covid lasting to the present. I am experiencing hair loss, which is a lesser problem compared to all the other things I've had to endure with this wretched affliction.

I'm so sorry for all of us. I'm an 82 year old female. Have so much trouble functioning some days, and just plain trouble functioning others. I long to be in my bed doing nothing but sleeping, My children feel this is just an exacerbation of my previous health issues. It is far more debilitating and real. My hair is the only attractive part of me left. I hate losing it!
