Endometrial Cancer Stage IIIC1
Spotting in late April.
Referred to gynecologist after abnormal pap showing atypical glandular cells in June
Ultrasound showed endometrial lining thickened to 19.55mm
Collposcopy, scrape of cervix, and endometrial biopsy resulted in endometrial adenocarcinoma FIGO grade 3
Gynecologic consult Aug 4
Complete hysterectomy bilateral salpingo oopherectomy Aug 8
Pathology report: tumor in uterus, 97% invasion of myometrial lining, cancer cells in right sentinel pelvic lymphnode Stage IIIC1
Consult Sep 2: oncologist recommended platinum systemic therapy of six cycles of carboplatin and paclitaxel. Oncologist doesn’t recommend EBRT even though tumor board recommended a referral.
Anyone familiar with this stage and chemo treatment who might be able to share information on side effects. The more I read about chemo, the more I’m afraid to weaken my immune system. Seems like recurrence is likely and wondering about no further treatment?

@mtstack no. I had the chemo along with immunotherapy. After the first 6 treatments I had hysterectomy. When pathology came back the had to do the FISH test. It was positive so the started chemo another 6 treatments with same immunotherapy and plus Herceptin since it was HER2+.

@mtstack no. I finished 6 treatments with immunotherapy. I had surgery then pathology showed I was HER2+. I am getting 6 more treatments with chemo I had before plus HERCEPTIN. My FISH test was positive. The first kind I had was equivocal which meant the needed to do more indepth test which was the FISH test. It came back positive. Today I am getting 2nd chemo of 6.

1 Reaction@mtstack Can some one explain POLE, Thankyou!!
How good is an indicator of CA125. I finally got my first one.
@mtstack I actually never had a baseline done when I was first diagnosed which was puzzling to me. I had them done during chemo and the number was low however the Chief MD at Moffett said there can be false negatives and positives. But I think it is a good indicator.

What number do you consider to be low?
@greatgrandma2025
I can't really explain it to you except I know it's one of the tests that is done for molecular/genetic testing.
I copied this from Google search:
"POLE (polymerase epsilon) testing is a genetic analysis used to identify mutations in the POLE gene, which is involved in DNA repair. Mutations in POLE can increase the risk of developing endometrial cancer, a type of uterine cancer.
Purpose of POLE Testing
POLE testing is used to:
Identify high-risk individuals: Women with POLE mutations have a higher risk of developing endometrial cancer and a poorer prognosis.
Guide treatment decisions: POLE-mutated endometrial cancers are typically more responsive to certain treatments, such as chemotherapy and immunotherapy. "
@mtstack normal is below 35. Mine at diagnosis was 1641. After 6 treatments was 81. It actually went from 1641 to 744 after 2nd treatment to 179 to 109 then the 81. That was one indicator the chemo was working. Just finished my 2nd second treatment of 2nd session and I'll probably have another CA125 test after 3rd treatment and also another scan.
