Long Covid Ear fullness pressure anyone else ??
Hi I’ve had this ear fullness and pressure for 10 months now and it’s not going away I’ve seen multiple drs ENT drs and all are confused. I have one ENT who is nice and trying everything to help me . Steroids help a little that’s why I’m thinking Covid inflammation but it never goes away. Anyone else have any luck getting better with this Covid issue ?
Thanks
Jeralyn

I'm sorry to hear the nightmare you're also dealing with.
also have the ear fullness as if the tubes are so unbelievably full with pressure and it's been over 2 years that I have not been able to hear right also losing more hearing.
've tried very medication and tricks and nothing has even remotely made any form of difference. It's A NIGHTMARE!
Do you also have the horrible head pressure that feels as if a balloon is going to pop?
I'm getting worse by the day and it's destroyed my life.
From time to time, I also feel a little pocket of air the pops through the ear.
Sometimes the ear pain gets hard to handle.
Easiest way to currently put it with LC today, it's like having serious flu & pneumonia all at the same time x 10, and doesn't go away just intensifies worse time to time.
It seems as if there isn't anyone to help most of us and I'm not getting any help in my area and have tried everything and I'm extremely sick.
I'm praying for you and hope you get answers!
@krystalm welcome to the club. Am calling our esteemed group “the forgotten”. One year down. At 85, I will probably die of something else exacerbated by the long Covid. Like you I am so frustrated and disheartened at the response of the US medical system. No one and I have researched this. No one has undertaken any research test trials defined Support for long Covid patients. At 85, I have also “aged out”.
Sure sounds as if it's some kind of inflammation of your Eustachian tubes, yes. Striking that ENT docs were of no help.
Sorry I haven't anything constructive to suggest.
That’s fine . I’ve had so many tests done drs saying no problem with my Eustachian tubes. Drs seem to know nothing around Pa.
@84forward it’s sad. I even had my primary care Dr tell me there were no tests to confirm that I had Covid. Umm yes there is a test to tell you that. So it’s sad you have to fight for yourself so much it wears you out. Drs don’t care.
@krystalm yeah i have the hard pressure too, just so awful. 4 months after it started in 2023 i began having all over body twitching and then muscle wasting, not from a lack of activity. Im deteriorating and in a lot of pain and not been able to get any help from doctors.
@boykin1017 I get the fullness too and the muscle twitches or spasms. I don’t have the pain only a little in my ears. Drs aren’t helping. I’ve tried everything. Steroids seem to help a little hbu?
I'm three years in.
I had Ramsay Hunt (no rash) and a mother of a sinus infection after I had COVID the first time.
I lost hearing in that ear.
The things that helped the fullness the most were Ayr Saline Nasal Mist throughout the day, and Flonase in the nostril on the same side as the plugged ear, then laying down for 15-30 minutes on that side. (Don't use Flonase if you are on other steroids, unless your doc says it's okay.)
I also took Allegra and regular Pepcid for a long time as they are histamine blockers. I'm not sure those helped at all, but at the time, it was the only thing I could find to try.
That particular issue is much better now and while I do have problems at times, the NeilMed Eustachi has helped a lot when following the directions carefully. DO NOT USE THIS DEVICE if your ears are completely plugged!
A holistic doctor recommended Quercetin. I used the liquid which was kind of a mess, but I think it really helped. I learned this earlier this year, and when my ear plugs up, I use it. She said that she uses it anytime she feels a cold coming on It stops it in its tracks. Also good for allergies. As always, make sure anything you try OTC is compatible with any other medications you're on.
If you have both ears blocked, I would make sure that you don't have a sinus infection. Then if you don't, I'd use whatever your doc recommends for an antihistamine. You might need imaging to see what is happening.
It really seems like no one knows what to do with these eustachian tube issues after COVID!
@84forward How about we (both 85) call ourselves “I Am Not Finished!”? Being told we have “aged out” is medical shorthand for “we don’t care.” I refuse to go quietly into the night.
I am pursuing alternate measures I.e. acupuncture, massage, exercise(w/trainer), natural meds (blackberry extract, quecertin (sp?) and
Essential oils(external application). Not cures. Temporary relief which I welcome. Trying hard to make my days “mine”.
We are NOT FINISHED!
@84forward I think you're right. A combination of approaches to get temporary relief. < sigh>
