Diarrhea with blood thinner and blood pressure meds

Posted by grrranny @grrranny, Sep 14 3:55pm

Diarrhea is one of the possible side effects of blood thinner and blood pressure meds. Have any of you had to deal with this? I have been taking Clopidogrel (Plavix) blood thinner, plus Lisinopril and Metoprolol Tartrate for blood pressure for several months.
Now recently experiencing diarrhea, when I never before had a problem. Any ideas what to do?
What mild things to eat?

Uhg, no fun! While you wait for others to comment it may help to check out Mayo Clinic’s overview about diarrhea. You will find specific “home remedies” under the treatment tab:
-Drink plenty of liquids, including water, broths and juices.
-Avoid caffeine and alcohol.
-Add semisolid and low-fiber foods gradually as your stool returns to what's typical for you. Try soda crackers, toast, eggs, rice or chicken.
-Don't eat certain foods such as dairy products, fatty foods, high-fiber foods or highly seasoned foods for a few days.
-Ask about antidiarrheal medicines or probiotics

Has your diet or activity level changed lately, or maybe you’ve made other drug changes like taking an antibiotic?

Do you have the paperwork from the pharmacy. Read closely.
Call your doctor’s office.
Talk to your pharmacist also.
You could have an allergic reaction to one of the med or more.
I am dealing with hives for 3 months. I could not get into my normal doctor. I was to do so many different things for the first 2 months. Then I Was able to get into my primary. At once, he told me to stop one of the meds I’ve been taking for 2 1/2 years. I am still dealing with the hives or rash, but it is slowly getting better.
Just because you’ve been on a drug for some time with no issues issues can develop with a snap of a finger
I get diarrhea very fast if I have certain chemicals or foods
Do your homework make a diary check your food as well as any over-the-counter medication that you might be taking?
It is not gonna be easy. I’m hoping it’s just a reaction to something you are taking.
Wish you the best

I WAS PERSCRIBED THE SAME THREE DRUGS YOU ARE TAKING. I HAD REACTIONS TO ALL THREE. THE REACTIONS INCLUDED DIARREHA, DIZZINESS AND WEAKNESS . CHECK WITH YOUR DRUGGEST. THEY CAN GIVE YOU A MORE COMPLETE LIST OF THE POSSABLE REACTIONS TO DRUGS. YOU SHOULD LET YOUR DR KNOW ALSO. I NO LONGER TAKE ANY OF THE DRUGS.
