Hello @arnieandcaroline13 and welcome to Mayo Connect. We are happy to have you as part of our online community. You mention managing depression. We have many Mayo Connect members who discuss this topic on a regular basis. Perhaps you could let us know a little more about yourself, for example: how long have you been troubled with depression, what treatments or activities have been helpful to you? I'm going to copy @colleenyoung, a Mayo Connect Moderator, so that she can introduce you to some of our other members who are discussing depression. Thanks again for joining us. We look forward to getting to know you and supporting you. Teresa

Hi @arnieandcaroline13

Welcome to connect we welcome you to share a little of yourself.

I have dealt with many different kinds of depression in the course of my life. At one point I went through the mayo clinic where I learned many coping techniques. Here is a link with some of the information.

Most recently had a relaps and discovered that I actually ended up getting what is known as Accelerated Depression. Which basically, I was so worried about not getting the depression I once had that I got myself there faster.

Here is a link if you need help with someone else coping with depression..

Looking forward to learning more about you.

Never forget the connection to food intolerances. I had terrible anxiety before being diagnosed with Celiac disease. Try a clean diet. Whole30 or AIP. Good thoughts your way!! You are not alone. Reach out, accept your sufferings but fight like a champ!!!

@lighthouseceliac Can you tell us a bit more how your anxiety was connected to undiagnosed celiac disease?

There are hundreds of symptoms. Anxiety is/was one of many that I had. Malnutrition for so many years was hard on my nervous system. See if I can post a link to one of many articles. As my gut is healing so many symptoms are better or have vanished.

Hello @lighthouseceliac,

We are so glad to have you as part of the Connect community.
Many studies have shown that there is a possible link between brain function and celiac disease or malabsorption, (the inability to properly absorb nutrients from food). Chronic conditions do have a significant impact on our daily life with all the challenges and stress that come with managing symptoms.

I would sincerely encourage you to take a look at Mayo Clnic's Celiac Disease Blog: http://celiacblog.mayoclinic.org, where you will find discussions and videos by Mayo Clinic experts discussing current research, news, tips and patient stories.
