Is it erectile dysfunction (ED)?

So, things start off fine. Foreplay exciting. But, shortly after beginning intercourse erection is gone. ED or some sort of psychological issue?

Hi Im not a doctor just a fellow person who also has a similar problem. This is a forum where Patients can share experiences. This is not a Medical advice that a Doctor would give but just a place to meet others with similar conditions and give us the feeling wee are not alone.
With that said I noticed the same thing of a dry ejaculation. I'm 66 and my doctor told me its quite often that as we age the sperm no longer gets released any more. I know with me it still feels good though and if the dryness is a problem with your partner there are many lubrication products out there.

I’ve been dealing with dry orgasms since my colon cancer surgery in Dec 2011 and ed from radiation treatment 6 months later. I’m 62 now. My orgasms are still pleasurable like before. The only difference is I don’t expel any dna, no pre cum, nothing. As far as the ed, it took me 10 years before I could achieve an erection firm enough for intercourse. And even then, it’s only once a week that it happens. But it’s getting better.

Hi everyone: About 3 or 4 years ago I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. Initially at the discovery by my family physician, my blood sugar was noted to be at 25 (at my annual check-up,) Right away my dr. referred me to an endocrinologist (a diabetes specialist.) This diabetes dr. quickly tried me on a high dose of Metformin (1000 then 2000 mg.) per day. That only lowered my blood sugar level to 16. He was not happy with that... He wanted me to be in the safer zone of about 5 or 6. He then introduced me to anew drug on the market called Gliclazide. That was a good medication for my diabetes, since my blood sugar levels then averaged between 5.5 and 6. Halleluiah!!!
Sadly, I developed a serious side effect within 2 weeks of being on this new drug. I totally LOST my LIBIDO. It came as quite a shock to me! I'm looking forward to being referred to a different endocrinologist by my new family doctor, very soon now. There has to be an alternative drug I can take, seeing how my blood sugar levels are in the right range these days. I am hoping that a different drug can keep my diabetes in check.

Has anyone else had a bad experience with Gliclazide? I'd love to hear about their experience. I want to be a true man again! Plus, seeing how I am engaged to the woman I've been in love with for the last 14 years... We plan on getting married within the coming year. But I don't want to be a disappointment to her in the bedroom, like I'm afraid I might be.

I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. BUT IT'S NOT CAUSED BY THE MEDICATION. IT'S CAUSED BY THE DIABETES. IT DESTROYS THE NERVES IN YOUR PENIS. THERE REALLY ISN'T MUCH THAT CAN BE DONE FOR IT. SWITCHING ENDOS WON'T REALLY HELP. PLUS YOUR AGE PLAYS A BIG ROLL IN IT ALSO.

If my memory is correct 40-60% of males with diabetes have low testosterone. I have diabetes, hbp, high cholesterol, low testosterone, enlarged prostate, ed and now Peyronie's disease. I had been able to be close to normal with medication except for Peyronie's. Testapel implants really help and also helped lower A1C . I understand certain meds. affect people differently.
I'm 59 . ED started around 38 finally had testosterone check early 50's it almost cost me a marriage. The other issues slowly appeared starting mid 40's.
Definitely get different doctors. Sad some Drs are arrogant and next one is on the ball knows he's stuff and doesn't work for insurance company . I've farmed my whole life and now have off farm job also. Don't remember a bad veterinarian and there patients don't talk. Some doctor's you just shake your head and wonder how they passed the test.

@mark29, your right. i did forget to mention that about meds. and doctors. which i don't like. so i tend to forget about them. to bad we need them though.
i just read an article about some doctors not being able to detect cancer because of using AI to much. they can't find it without AI. VERY SAD AND SCARY. think about that for awhile.

I have a similar experience, just won’t stay hard enough for long enough, very frustrating. Going to check with a urologist to see if there is something wrong with the plumbing or is it in my head.
