Is it possible to stay off bone drugs altogether

Wondering if it is possible to stay off bone drugs altogether by taking bone supplements, working out with weights, walking and a bone healthy diet?

Studies I read though, showed statistically lower fracture rates with strontium. In some countries, strontium is prescribed for osteoporosis with good results lowering fractures. Isn’t that the goal?

Maybe you can take the strontium and also research how far before the Dexa Scan it needs to be stopped so as not to interfere with the results. I would love to see what you learned.

Unfortunately, my last dexa scan came back 7% lower bone density. I upped everything the last year (weights lifting, a lot of squats, cut back on sugar, and alcohol . I was so surprised at my numbers. Very disappointed.

I was taking Native path for nearly a year, then switched to AlgaeCal .
I just stopped the powder, and ordered the AlgaeCal Plus and Strontium Boost. I’ll give it a try the next year. Hopefully I won’t have problems with the Strontium as I have a pacemaker, and mitral valve repair.
I’m 75 year old and have Afib. My cardiologist said I should be ok taking it .we will see.

Were you taking the AlgaeCal powder supplement with Fortibone? Did you stop taking it because your bone density decreased? Just curious since I recently started taking the AlgaeCal powder. Thanks.

I had an ablation for afib - now sinus rhythm I take strontium citrate with my primary doc(geriatrician) and endocrinologist consent.
The reason why strontium citrate was studied because strontium is actually needed for bone. Because of artificial, fertilizers, used in our mass produced food, it was postulated that adding strontium would help bone. The amount of strontium a person gets naturally is from the soil in which their food is grown. It would, seem eating exclusively organic, would give more natural strontium but, again, it depends on the soil in which those foods are grown.

How many milligrams of strontium citrate do you take? Do you know yet if it is helping you?

There are many, but I use Native Path. I put a scoop of the bone supplement first thing in the morning in my coffee and a scoop of the regular powder supplement later in the day.

Do you take calcium supplements as well?

I have in the past, but I’m not right now. I go back and forth on those.

I use 340mg daily but a study protocol I loosely followed used 400mg specially prepared. Yes, it brought me out of osteoporosis to osteopenia. I stopped for awhile when I was taking heart meds but resumed after I was off them.

I take this collagen powder because there is evidence that the Fortibone ingredient is effective. My friend who taught medical research to medical students recommended it.

Where does one buy it and is it third party verified? I have read in so many reputable places that there are no rules or regulations regarding supplements and that there is a lot of fraud.

It depends how bad of a condition one is in. Supplements don't really help unless you are deficient. They don't go directly to the bone. Hormones and exercise together can help.
You have to start with a doctor's care and then get advice on a productive direction.
Sometimes scans are misleading unless DEXAs are taken with TBS software analysis done. And, as I found out - your bones are of different densities and strengths. It is a complex subject, and I suggest doing your research because much of the info here can be taken out of context unless you start with an informed background. There are a lot of snake oil sales around this subject.
