Has anyone tried Vyepti infusions for migraines?

I am 62 years old and have suffered from migraines for 20 years. I used to get them 4 days/week and have tried every medication, Botox and other injections currently on the market as well as some non traditional ideas. Rizatriptan (Maxalt) did help a lot in stopping my migraines when they occurred. However, it did not reduce the amount migraines and at times I had rebound headaches. I now get Vyepti infusions quarterly and only experience one migraine/month. I still use the Rizatriptan as a rescue drug when I do have a migraine. This has been life changing for me.

I have been taking an equivalent drug Aimovig for 5 months. It is a self directed induction taken every 30 days. Started at a lower dosage and increase after 3 months. It does seem to be mitigating my migraines. It is expensive, but, what price is there for relief?

I’ve been doing these infusions for a couple of tears. at first I had some relief. Now, perhaps some lessening of the severity but no help with frequency if migraines. My doctor and I agreed this past week to stop the infusions.

Yes, I have a Vyepti infusion (300 mg) every 12 weeks. For a while, the infusions reduced the number of attacks I got but lately, their effectiveness seems to be waning and I’m getting more frequent attacks. I would label the infusions as somewhat effective and better than nothing. But my migraines are definitely still there. Worth a try bc everyone is different.

I was on Vyepti also. The first infusion was great. Just some nasal stuffiness for a side effect, it was very effective for treatment # 1.
Treatment # 2 a completely different story. As odd as this sounds, I had a migraine immediately after this treatment and it was not helpful at all the entire months. But and this is a big but - everyone is different and reacts differently.
My RN infusing me told me she had a woman on it for 2 years and it was a miracle for her.
I have "refractory" migraines...translation - nothing preventative seems to work...plus I don't even take my Ubrevly anymore for migraines. Completely ineffective. I have no idea what to try next. I have ischemic heart disease and there's the rub. All triptans are ruled out for me. I can only go with the CGRPs. And they don't seem to help at all. Very frustrating for me...I would certainly tell you to go for it! Give it a try - at least 3 months worth and go from there. Best wishes to you!

My migraines are a side effect of a medication I was taking because I also have Multiple Sclerosis. I was getting Botox and suddenly it just stopped working, still take topirimate every night but does that help? I feel like I just can’t get my words out or is that the MS, still have a pounding headache everyday, now we trying nurtec. Still feel the headache but not as intense, was thinking about asking about the infusion but what I’m reading it doesn’t sound like ANYTHING works:( MS sucks enough, migraines on top of it is absolutely miserable. If anyone has any suggestions, I’d greatly appreciate it..

That is indeed rough, @sarawiet, that you have migraines now on top of multiple sclerosis.

What does your doctor suggest medication-wise, sarawiet, to avoid the migraine problem?

@susanfalcon52 I have had 3 (300 mg max amount) infusions. For the past 2 years I have had up to 22 migraine days per month. 2 years ago I had a Thunderclap headache and I was in the hospital for 8 days because they could not get it stopped. After that my headaches turned into status migrainosus. It was miserable, nothing seemed to work. My Neurologist put me on Botox and Vyepti. The first month I did not have a headache for 2 months! Then month 3 they started back. The 2nd infusion seemed to not help at all. Before my 3rd infusion, I changed my diet. I eat between Mediterranean and Low Carb. I am a SWEETaholic. I do not eat any of the crazy ingredients that you can't pronounce in any of my foods now. So on my 3rd infusion, 2 weeks ago, the first week was great. Then I had 3 bad days and this past week has been much better. So I think a combination of the 3 is so far helping me. The only side effect from Vyepti that I have had was a stuffy nose. To me, I had to at least try Yvepti since nothing else was working and it has helped.

Hi @richardfrancine - did you end up quitting the infusions for your migraines? If so, did your doctor replace that with another treatment instead?
