Weight Gain with Evenity

Posted by susanew @susanew, Feb 11 4:56pm

Some have said they gained some weight when taking Evenity. Any idea at about what shots you noticed this? I am now going to be taking shots #9 and I do notice about a 4 to 5 lb. gain. Anyone else notice a gain in weight and if so, when was it noticeable?

No, I haven't had weight gain.
However, my belly has gotten
a little more soft and round. Well, I am 78, so it could be plan old aging.
I am headed towards my last shot in June...I'll let you know
if that has any effect.

Well I had tremendous weight gain for the year - the drug did nothing for me but made my osteoporosis worse. I had severe pain the whole 12 months and now off for 2 months and 75% of my pain has decreased. I'll be 76 and the year before I started this treatment I had dropped 15 lbs. go figure - I believe all the treatments are worse than the disease right now - until otibfn with correct facts.

Same here, but I had significant DEXA scoregains after the year on Evenity, so the trade off was worth it. Now I am on Prolia again to maintain gains and am working on the weight!

I’m about to start Evenity. When you say it messed with your thyroid, can you share what happened? I’m
on synthroid for Hashimoto’s.

I was on .175 daily for years - and my thyroid went crazy high. Had to decrease my dosage to .150, which really slows me down but with the higher dose they were afraid of my heart (I’m 75). I have had an unstable thyroid since I was28, and basically have felt normal for 4 days in my life (when my thyroid was decreasing and hit normal levels)it was Labor Day 1978 - I’m an anomaly so depending what your situation is just watch it and control it. When they found my issue my tsh was so high they had to put me on blood pressure medicine immediately. I am losing some weight now little by little but I also have to say my pain and aches have drastically diminished with being off now for two months. Not sure if any of this helps but my only advice would to be watch side effects while on envenity. Hope it works for you. Keep us posted.

I've gained 10 lbs in 8 months, the first 7 lbs on the first 3 months. My doctors give me the "blank i don't feel-its-connected". The treatment is too critical to stop, but it doesn't help with my self esteem! After losing over 3 inches from the osteoporosis, adding extra weight makes me feel like a Buddha doll, short and pudgy! But, we just have to keep our sense of humor! Best of luck and health to all.

I have gained 10 lbs in the 8 months that I have been on Evenity. I have lost over two inches in height from the osteoporosis. I am trying to take the weight off or at least down. I am less active than I was. My thyroid numbers (TSH) are at the top of the scale and have gone to HIGH at times. I am having that checked also. I am 78 but I still don't want to resign myself to being "out-of-shape. I do have fatigue and osteoarthritis.

Oh my!
No one will ever be able to convince me that Evenity doesn't have an effect on your body and weight!
I seem to gain 2 lbs with each injection plus, my stomach has really got big!
How about fatigue?
I feel crappy almost every single day since I started my Evenity journey!
Depressing!

Agreed! I’m another who have added inch around the middle since I started Evenity (6/1/25) & the fatigue is a real disappointment too. However, much of the treatment options for osteoporosis all have side effects and I feel that I need to be proactive to protect my spine & hip from life-changing fracture, particularly at my age of 80 & female.
The odds seemed stacked against me keeping my mobility & independence. Some days I wish I hadn’t opened this box of worms!

Yes, same here. By the time I completed the series, I had gained 5-7 pounds, and it all appears to be in my belly. Seven months later, even with regular walking and exercise, i cannot seem to get it off. But, on the other hand, I had great bone gains. 🤷‍♀️

As hard as it is for you to I’m glad I’m not the only one who knows in their gut that envenity certainly has rapid weight gain. I agree with the loss of height and my extra weight I also look like a Buddha. With more and more on this drug I believe the doctors are getting feedback on what the side effects truly are. And a kicker it made my life miserable the year I was on it and my density decreased. I’m now trying tylmos and hoping I’ll have some success. I’ll be 76 and it’s just frustrating.
