Has anyone had a “blue light treatment” on their face to remove pre-ca
I had a blue light treatment on 11/15/24. It is most unpleasant and my age spots are darker and more spots gave been added. I thought this would get rid of them! I have not begun to peel yet, though, so I am hopeful. This is has been extremely painful. My dermatologist wants me to go this twice. I’m considering saying “no, thank you. Once is enough!”

My dermatologist informed me I had "too many cancerous and precancerous lesions on my face and upper chest to even count" . She advised I do her blue light treatment after an application of a gel. The gel was painted on my face and upper chest first, then the blue photo light turned on for 14 minutes. This is the first time I have ever thought back on it as it was so painful both during and after, it was traumatic.
I have had four children, full term childbirths. The pain and agony from this treatment did not give me beautiful skin afterwards; and I begged for painkillers after the third day and got NONE or any sympathy whatsoever from the medical personnel.
I am a blue eyed blonde. Am not sure who invented this procedure but they obviously don't care how painful it is. I would rather go through 14 hours of labor before doing this again: at least with labor you get a beautiful reward and some sympathy regarding the pain involved.
I no longer do any cremes either. I did a complete "cream treatment" only three years prior to this. My face and upper chest literally turned into leather texture, broke open into bleeding, oozing and then crusting for more than "a week or so" I was told would happen. I could not go outside in the sun for two months due to pain and sensitivity, let alone the horrible scabbing and crusting. And that creme treatment was nearly as painful!
It has been 9 years since I have had ANY treatment. I tell the docs, you will not use one of those cold cryo devices on me nor will you put on cremes, blue lights. I make sure I get biopsies, even they leave a small scar, I do not care. It is so much less painful and faster.
Being aged does not mean I want to run about looking like a monster after these creme and light treatments. A biopsy heals faster and I know for SURE if it is or is not cancer. I would never face that blue light treatment again...unless they put me under first and for three weeks afterwards OR give me some pain medication to get through it. As it was I drank my way through this torture!! Never again.
Wow, thank you for sharing your (horrific) story. I did the blue light treatment 6 months ago and I will never do it again. I actually had a squamous cell show up a month after this treatment. They scraped it off and nothing further was needed, but a lot that blue light did me. I believe it is a money make for them and has almost no efficacy. I will go to the dermatologist every 4 months and have them freeze any spots, but I’m with you: I won’t do that blue light again and it did NOT remove age spots as I was told it would. It did nothing but brought pain and isolation (can’t go anywhere). I’m careful in the sun. Hopefully we will both have an excellent quality of life and NO blue lights!
I received BLT and didn't feel anything on my face- a remote warmth on one side. I have a friend that says he feels tingles and stinging plus warmth. My Doctor said I am one of the few that it work on. I did the hour with the serum and then 16 minutes under the light.
I told the tech that I didn't feel anything and she said that was fine.
Is this normal? I ended up having to put a cream on my face for 2 weeks twice a day. Turned the whole process into an endurance test!
But I don't think the treatment was done right. So wanted to hear if anyone else had this issue. Thanks in advance!
Has anyone received a fractional CO₂ treatment for skin lesions? I am dealing with an MDE case. (Mid Dermal Elastolysis).
I have a place that was biopsy and it is cancer , im doing the superficial radiation. 21 treatments. I'm onthe 8th one. Probably 2 or 3 minutes. It's a pain driving there 3 times a week. So far so good. Any one had that treatment?
Never heard of thr blue light treatment
.
Blue Light is for skin cancer and is unbelievably and outrageously unpleasant. I will not do it again. It’s over rated and fills the pockets of dermatologists; they get a generous kickback but the procedure has limited success. I’ve opted to just go to the Dermatologist every 4 months, and stay on top of my skin. Scrape questionable areas followed by cream.
I’ve had the treatment several times. It stings but nothing I can’t deal with. The 48 hours of being indoors is the worst. I’ve had success and times where it hasn’t helped. Too much Florida sun hasn’t been good. Best wishes and hopes for all!
