Bariatric surgery or gastrectomy due to ulcers, other health issue?
Has anyone had Bariatric or Gastrectomy (stomach removal) surgery due to ulcers or other health problems excluding cancer?
Any thoughts or suggestions? It looks like it will take 6 months to heal and will never be able try or eat or drink the same again.

I read your post .. I can not eat dairy products, beef, starchy foods but I did find out at Publix’s they Carry a icecream made from coconut milk.. they are really very good … if anyone has this type surgery they can live normal lives they just have to compromise on substituting other related foods for what they use to eat..

Welcome to mayo Connect. It is frustrating trying to figure out what you can and cannot eats after any surgery on your digestive system. It is often trial and error. You may want to review this discussion earlier in year with suggestion on how to eat after surgery.

Did you meet with a dietitian after your surgery?

Hi, @pain3relief - I noted you talked about a gastrectomy and post-op eating, including very soft food. Overall, as you look back, I wondered how things went with your gastrectomy recovery period? How are you doing now?
