Nocturnal Leg Cramps - Help!

Posted by ashby1947 @ashby1947, Oct 20, 2019

Does anyone have a suggestion to help deal with foot/ankle/leg cramps in the middle of the night? I take plenty of calcium and magnesium and am thinking that I need to increase my potassium intake. Topical lotions (Theraworx, Tiger Balm, etc.) have not helped. I hope this is a good day for whoever is reading this! Sue

Ca is calcium, usually oxide. Mg is magnesium, also usually oxide. I use oxides because they absorb slowly without fluctuations in the levels.

Also please try electrolytes. I started drinking Propel at the request of the pain management doctor at my orthopedists. It has reduced my cramps by about 98%.

I have been taking Essential Electrolytes twice daily for years. The help but I still need the supplements I listed.

I've tried everything under the sun but went back to a basic recommendation on Mayo and another medical website. Make sure sheets are loosened at foot of bed so your legs can move around at night. Kind of basic but, if like me, you've tried everything I've seen recommended here, try that. So far it's helped me a little.

Can you explain your supplements? I don't totally understand ca 1 g/day and Mg 1g/day.

Thank you!
