Nocturnal Leg Cramps - Help!

Posted by ashby1947 @ashby1947, Oct 20, 2019

Does anyone have a suggestion to help deal with foot/ankle/leg cramps in the middle of the night? I take plenty of calcium and magnesium and am thinking that I need to increase my potassium intake. Topical lotions (Theraworx, Tiger Balm, etc.) have not helped. I hope this is a good day for whoever is reading this! Sue

hi, itspg1.
I was referring back to another answer | @maribarry | Aug 24 magnesium glycinate capsules have done the job for me! I buy them at Costco and take 2 as directed on the bottle each evening before bedtime. i apologize for not making that clear which would have been easy. I'd been taking half dosages, without complete success. I've only had one cramp since taking maribarry's advice. And it was my toe in the daytime.
I'm female (probably only matters to my current flame). I think most physical things are a bit different for men than they are for women, probably even cramps.

My rheumatologist told me to take way more than the recommended dose of Magnesium. he said to at least double it.

This is the Magnesium I take and it doesn’t affect the bowel. It was suggested by my functional med. doctor. I’ve been taking it for years, 2 tablets twice daily. Hope this helps.

I used to get these cramps after I started on liptor. My doctor changed my prescription to crestor. It was better but still got them periodically. I stated taking 100mg of COQ10 once a day. No more cramps!
