High Triglycerides - How can the number come down
I am not new to an above normal triglyceride number and it has been irritating me for over 30 years. Tried niacin therapy, no carb diet, lots of fruits and veggies, low salt, daily exercise which I still do today and no change. I do daily self hypnosis to reduce stress even though I am retired and my stressors are in my past. I also take a statin. If you have been successful in reducing your triglyceride number I would love to hear from you.

My heart failure doctor is the director of heart failure and transplant at Mayo Jacksonville. He advised me many years ago to start taking Fish Oil to reduce my triglcerides. It did by about half. I am also on a statin drug but it was to reduce LDL
A recent article in WEBMD (anyone can go on there and review) was citing fish oil lowering tryglycerides by eating fish and more effective supplements. This information was from health studies and trials. At WEB MD they articles alwasy give the doctors name and employment when they are used to provide data to a WEBMD article.
A good thing for anyone is to check with their doctors before taking any supplements. My heart failure doctor recommended this and my Mayo PCP concurred citing studies not only at Mayo but other major medical instutions and studies.
A lot of "may" words used re fish oil supplements.

This is my pet peeve. I sometimes joke on public fora, 'Oh yeah, it's Tuesday again. New nutrition 'science' out says red wine isn't as good as they had thought....oops, here's yet another study saying it may be good for hearth health. '...may be...'
I cut my triglycerides in half (165 to 85 ) by cutting out potatoes, white rice, pasta, and all refined carbs as a test - and started taking the Vescepa again. I stopped over the years because it didn't do anything for my cholesterol. But it DOES work on the triglycerides! ALSO - eating fish will do an amazing job on most anything related to lipid lowering.
Thank you very much for your reply. Good info!
I use Trilipix 175 mg - once daily, a blue/yellow capsule and it reduced my triglycerides 50%.
My ldl cholesterol was too high and statins were not good - I tried- so finally changed to a Whole Food-Plant Based diet guided by Dr Michael Greger’s NutritionFacts.org website, newsletter and daily videos. Results were amazing - all lipids down in normal range.
That is great. I will make a note of it.
I was recently put on Rosuvastatin. For the first time in my life all my numbers are great.
