Just started Qulipta-any experiences to share?
I have been feeling pretty awful with migraine, cervicogenic headaches and fatigue from those issues & breast cancer drugs. Was taking Nurtec with not great results but now been switched to Qulipta. I hate adding another daily drug to my already beat-up body (I am 71) Also this is all making me anxious & they want to give me another pill for that! Looking for some advice as to how to fight the fatigue and other side effects & wondering if the drugs are worth it. So far I’m not any better. On day 5 of 30 mg Qulipta. On Nebebolol beta blocker, Ibrance & Exemestane for cancer & a blood thinner. Thanks for any thoughts.

Good suggestion. The only other thing I that definitely helps the pain. I purchase Wellness Migraine Cool patches from Amazon. Put them on my forehead (works like an ice pack), and where a hat if I'm going out. It numbs the pain and allows me to function through the day. Otherwise, I wouldn't be going out. I'd be in bed. It has saved me.
Hi, I saw your comment about Qulipta. I started taking it about two years ago, after another therapy had stopped being effective. I liked that it was a daily tablet, AND it seemed to be working for my Migraines. I stopped taking it because it caused severe constipation. I was disappointed because it had been working well for the Migraines.
In addition, I noticed a loss of appetite and that I was losing weight while taking Qulipta. Although I could afford to lose a few pounds, this wasn’t the way to do it.
Although Qulipta helped the Migraines, the side effects, especially constipation, were more than I could tolerate.
I hope it works for you. It sounds like you have a lot on your plate, medically, so to speak, so best wishes.
Have you asked your doctor about Botox injections?
Qulipta and Nurtec didn’t work for me plus the $400.00 copay for 9 pills per month wasn’t happening.
For me Sumatriptan worked but when I reached 60 years old I could no longer take them as they can cause stroke.
I started Botox and it took over a year to help and then about another year went by and it no longer helped. My NP decided to put my last injections into my neck and that brought my pain level down from a 10 to a 7 for 2 months and the 3rd month is back to a 10. I get my next injections next Monday so I’m hoping it brings me a couple good months again.
Botox seems to work well for allot of people, you might want to check it out?
Best wishes

Does off-label mean that the drug was approved for other illnesses but you were given it for migraines
?
Have you tried holistic treatments? I'm about there if though it will cost me.
Quilipta worked for me. But I had to quit because of severe constipation.
Yes, off label for other illnesses. I tried detoxes, acupuncture, dropped food from my diet. Nothing works. Doing PT now as they think it is my eyes and ears causing headache and dizziness. So far, nothing is helping, not even traction for my neck.
Tried PT & limited acupuncture (no insurance for that & recommended people soooo expensive) no help so far. Wondering about nerve blocks.
I've commented on Qulipta before. Same conclusion, works pretty well, but the side effects our too severe. Overall, here is my regimen that seems to be helping.
1) Botox every 90 days and a touch-up of 40 units in the middle. And it makes a difference where the shots are placed. Watch doctor Dr. Andrew Blumenfeld on YouTube to see proper placement.
2) Vyepti infusion, 300 mg every 90 days
3) Ajovy, once a month. Seems like that's a duplicate to Vyepti, but seems to help.
4) My dentist suggested an appliance for snoring. He said that it might also help my migraines. He was 100% correct (it took my dentist to help me instead of my neurologist). Anyway, that led to a sleep doctor, and I was diagnosed with sleep apnea. Tried the CPAP, couldn't take it, so I stayed with the appliance that my dentist made me. Big difference in my headaches. I no longer wake up with them, and they are less frequent and severe. Now, if I get one, they come on in the afternoon and are milder.
5) Lastly, (which has allowed me to function), I wear a cool patch on my forehead at night when I go to bed, and I wear one when I have a migraine. It doesn't take the headache away, but numbs the pain so whereby I can't feel it. This has been a lifesaver for me. They are called Wellness Migraine Cool patch. You can buy them on Amazon. Good luck! Jim
PS: Having said all this stuff above, I still haven't found a rescue drug that works for me.
I'm just finishing 2 months of Qulipta and have been feeling increasingly worse. More migraines and daily HA in general. I am stopping today. Nurtec didn't work for me either ;-(
Hi, @migraineelaine - so sorry to hear you've felt increasingly worse with taking atogepant (Qulipta). You mentioned rimegepant (Nurtec) didn't work for you either.
Does your neurologist have another medication or therapy for you to try next?
