Bergamot
Has anyone tried Bergamot supplements to lower lipids? I have been reading about it and Bergamot is a citrus fruit from Italy. It is included in the Mediterranean diet but it is very difficult to find in USA as a fruit unless you get supplements. Studies have found it lowers the lipid levels drastically without the side effects that statins and non-statins lipid lowering drugs do. I live in Virginia and there is a Naturopathic physician who lives in Washington DC who is using it and his patients with high lipid levels have been using it with great results. I don’t go to naturopathic physicians but it seems Bergamot works. I am not a pill person and try to avoid them as necessary. I have been doing the Mediterranean diet for quite some time now and it is lowering my cholesterol, triglycerides, increasing my HDL but my LDL is stuck in 137 which is high and Bergamot works with LDL very well. I just wanted to know if anyone is being trying Bergamot supplements and if it is truly working. Let me know. Thank you.

Thanks.
I did not change my diet or exercise amd started taking Citrus Bergamot about 5 years ago. It dropped my cholesterol to normal. The doc had given me 3 months and I thought I had nothing to lose. When they called with the results the nurse wanted to know what I had done. I said 2 Citrus Bergamot pills per day and nothing more. Give it 3 months to work
I've used it and it's helped me. Statins cause me to have muscle pain. I take berberine also
How much berberine are you taking? Thank. you.
My bottle is 1,000 mg.
In response to naiviv (July 7, 2024) asking about Bergamot, Yes. Several friends suggested I try it to lower my LDL scores ... First I tried Bigelow Earl Green Tea with Bergamot, (drank 2 cups every day for +- 3 months) went back to the Lab. & had a blood test to measure HDL & LDL ... the LDL score dropped (maybe) 10-15 points from JUST over the normal range down into the top of the normal range. A friend heard I was working on getting my LDL down, suggested I find STASH green tea with double Bergamot ... drank it regularly for +- 3 months, & results were about the same. Finally my Health Care Professional concluded since All my other Lab scores were either Good, Better, or Best, the only one "Out-a Whack" was the LDL score, & my overall general health was very good, (except for A-FIB in it's mildest stage) I shouldn't let the LDL score 'make me CRAZY'. I think his parting words were, "Normal for one person isn't always Normal for Everyone." (My theory, "People Are Like Snow-flakes, No 2 of us are Exactly Alike")
Congratulations! Good For You.
Where do you get Citrus Bergamot Pills? I've tried the Teas, with Very little success. I'd Love to try the Pills. This is the 1 test score I've "Flunked" for more than 3 years.
