The Aerobika has 5 different settings that can be used—lowest to highest resistance. All our medical centers are giving them to respiratory patients being discharged from the hospital to help with mucus clearance. I like that you can use the Aerobika while nebulizing, saving an extra step. They can be boiled to sanitize.

Put a plastic bag around the shower head that is filled with vinegar. Secure it with an elastic or other means. Leave there for 30 minutes, I believe.

If you can’t soak the shower head, at least leave the shower and bathroom doors open. Less stream!

I just read @sueinmn ’s comments about vinegar. It doesn’t kill NTM. I thought I had read that some people use vinegar to clean spouts and shower heads. Alcohol (70%) to sterilize is probably best.

24 hours completely submerged in 5-6% vinegar reportedly works. I believe the studies say 30 min in 70% alcohol. You need to be careful at the store. Some vinegar is less than 5% now, especially generics

I thought the vinegar is to clean out any calcium or salt build up in the nebulizing cup or aerobika. ???? Then the liquid dish detergent and warm water to clean the devices and or alcohol/boiling water to disinfect????

Hi Toni, I’m also curious about the Aerobika vs the acapella device. My doctor recommended the acapella. I’m seeing many people commenting about using the Aerobika and I’m wondering if I need that instead? Thanks for any information you can provide.

Hi Laura. I've never used an acapella. But I use an Aerobika hooked up to my nebulizer, which saves a bit of time and is effective for me. I wash and disinfect following the Aerobika directions. Good luck with whatever you choose!
