Newest and best long covid recovery treatments?

Posted by lorivwebb @lorivwebb, Sep 10, 2024

Has anyone had any substantial or helpful treatment for severe long covid?
Interested to hear any novel therapies being explored. At this point, I am so tired and now have pots and ME with significant symptoms for 2 years.

Looking for some hopeful ideas.

I believe I read about a German treatment center that uses medically supervised fasting for LC. I would think autophagy would help. I lost 60 lbs using IF, but regained all after covid and have no energy even with eating, so doctor advised against stressing my body further. I would like to try fasting again, however, as five years out, nothing else has helped.

There are some interesting videos on this YouTube channel about fasting and long Covid. Here's one of them:

I take 3 mg naltrexone. Since I have been on it my osteoarthritis has bothered me in my knees, hips and fingers. I have Lupus and have had to increase my prednisone, which helps.

I’m not sure what constitutes severe LC here but I had been bedridden with severe heart palpitations, multiple ER visits, inability to even go to the bathroom without almost passing out. The couch was the furthest I went for almost a year…

Then over time, I’ve tried Paxlovid for 6 months, helped move the needle up a notch (probably saw best results the first 4 months).

Best results have been from antibiotics and then mitochondrial support supplements. These 2 have moved the needle big time!

I’m still not well, but I’m able to go out and run errands, drive, and have even been able to tolerate a 4 day vacation with 14 hours of driving (I was the passenger).

I will say that my LC has been broken down into the categories of gut issues (hence antibiotics help!), mitochondrial dysfunction, and MCAS.
(When my gut issues are treated, everything is better, so I’m actually looking into FMT)

But I take supplements like high doses of Ubiquinol which helped tremendously, then used ChatGPT to work on finding further supplements to continue supporting my mitochondria along with research. And I take supplements for my MCAS and gut health.

It takes a year for mitochondria to heal so I’ve got another 6 months to go. But things really changed after taking my mitochondrial supplements after about 2 months. I’m no longer crashing back on the couch every 2 weeks! It’s been months since that’s happened. I was even able to garden a little!

LDN did help my fatigue as it initially inhibits endorphins for about two hours and then your body releases them and I can go for a few hours with more energy. I had to start low as the headache and vivid dreams took a few week to handle. Now I take between 3 and 4.5 mg and sometimes skip a day as it seems to make the next days dose give me more relief.

Hi!
Sure, here’s what I take for gut: Butyrate, l-glutamine, Resveratrol, PEA although some are also good for MCAS like PEA.

Bc everything affects each other my MCAS of Zyrtec/Pepcid 2x/day has also been helpful.

I also take Berberine for gut and mitochondrial dysfunction. And high doses of Omega 3’s algae (I’m allergic to fish), vitamin C, d,e,zinc, urolithin A, astaxanthin as antioxidants to help clear out what my body is having trouble clearing.

For mito supplements I take PC, NR, L-carnitine along with my Ubiquinol (300-400mg). I tried adding PQQ (this helps with mito biogenesis, making more mito, but my body wasn’t ready yet. I need to keep building healthier, functioning mito first).

Also giving my mito support has helped my gut some too.

Although I do suffer from chronic SIBO issues, so looking into FMT. I take micro doses of boulardii, infantis, and plantarum each night. I can take a full dose as it puts me into more SIBO and a world of hurt gut wise. So building my biome is very challenging. Hence FMT.

Hope there’s something here that’s maybe helpful!

Can not take probiotics I meant to say

I have been looking into histamine intolerance/mast cell activation syndrome. They can be a problem with LC. I encourage anyone with LC to have histamine levels checked along with Tryptase levels. Both conditions cause too much histamine in the body. And this can cause NUMEROUS heath problems.

repl,
Some people have to start with just a very small amount of probiotics, like on the head of a toothpick. Also be careful if you have immune problems.

Are you getting relief from fatigue with the 3.0-4.5 doses of LDN?
Thanks again for sharing.
