Repatha along with pravastatin 10 mg and ezetimibe
I’ve taken my first Repatha injection and due for 2nd injection on 6/1/2025. Cardiologist has me continuing ezetimibe and pravastatin through 2nd Repatha injection. Then at 4 weeks do a lipid panel to determine impact of Repatha.
Has anyone else had this prescription where all three meds overlap for 4 weeks?
TIA!

Hi @hanni6179 . Welcome to Connect!
It sounds like your cardiologist is making sure you get off to a good start with Repatha by checking your numbers as soon as he thinks you will start to see a change. It’s a bit of a quirky drug, different because it’s every 2 weeks so you will want to let him know if you notice any symptoms that may start creeping up on you around injection times.
I have familial hypercholesterolemia (genetically high cholesterol). Repatha didn’t work for me. My dad takes Repatha, rosuvastatin and ezetimibe. I believe I have other family on the same mix as you regularly.
I was told Repatha and statins have a synergy that achieves a larger reduction in LDL than if you added their individual effectiveness together. That may be something you could ask your cardiologist.
Are you having problems controlling your cholesterol? Do you have other risk factors in addition to high LDL?
I'm on Repatha, atorvastatin, and ezetimibe, and the combination had dropped my total cholesterol, LDL, and all the other markers dramatically, much more than before Repatha. You might need more than 4 weeks to see the full results (think 6 months) but good to check if you are having any negative symptoms from the combination.
I also have familial hyperlipidemia and am on Repatha, Lipitor and Zetia. Minimal side effects. Each medication works through a different mechanism so that all three together really helps. Now I am waiting for a medication for my high lipoprotein a. (CABGx4, 3 stents, still chugging along).
Is repatha the same as leqvio
No. Repatha is a twice a month injectable medication called evolocumab. Leqvio is a twice a year injectable medication called inclisiran.
@jlharsh Thanks for your input. I am having problems with body aches on most statins therefore my dr is trying to get me off of pravastatin and ezetimibe and replace with Repatha.
2nd injection was Sunday. Yesterday, I had a cramp in upper left leg that disappeared after 15 seconds. Then later in the afternoon, my upper right leg cramped for 5 seconds. I was walking with new Dankso sandals so the adjustment could be impacting my body. I will keep monitoring for any anomolies and report to my dr.
Thank you.
Nice to meet you @astohrer since we are both “family”. Ha! It is encourage to hear you are chugging along. I am hopeful for good LP(a) lowering options for you. How long ago was your bypass surgery and stents? Have you always been able to keep your cholesterol at a safe level?
@shelby29 I wasn’t successful with Repatha or Praluent. I am currently taking inclisiran injection you mention every 6 months. So far so good. Do you take an injection cholesterol drug?
Bypass was in 2011 and stents 2025. Since starting Repatha my cholesterol levels have been fabulous. Except for lipoprotein a, which my physicians and I have been unable to find a treatment for. Hoping for the meds in the pipeline.
Well whatever leqvio is, it lowered LDL to 45. Also take 80 mg avorstatin and 10 mg zetia..(3 stents Nov 2023 and triple bypass March 2024). Thankful for my life and medical care at Mayo!
So thankful for the Mayo. They have saved my life twice and improved my quality of life countless times.
