Started twitches (like tics) after Craniosacral Therapy post-TBI

Posted by kayleelayne @kayleelayne, May 19, 2025

I got a TBI, fought migraines and vertigo for months they put me in Craniosacral Therapy and I had 4 appts left and she decided to do the Craniosacral Therapy in the pool. I started to shiver and twitch, which my therapist told me it would go away within the night......almost 3.5 years later. I have had ever MRI, CT scan, EEG, everything checked with everything coming back normal. I never had any type of tics before this. Now I have uncontrollable motor and vocal twitches. I tuck my chin down to where I can't breath and pass out. I hit myself. I can't use a knife anymore. I can barley wash my own hair because I can't get my hands to connect to my brain. I have had my neck adjusted in upper cervical without any luck. I have had all my tests come back normal. Life is completely turned around for me and I have no clue which way to go in my medical issues.
Has anyone else experienced this issue? Or something similar?
Thank you!

Hi, @kayleelayne - sounds like you've been through a lot with your traumatic brain injury and then from the moment in craniosacral therapy where some type of tics started.

Tagging a few members who have mentioned tics and/or craniosacral therapy to see if they have any thoughts on your tics and what might be helpful @cberry211 @vinman789 @kyleew6783 @phdkatz58 @desertrose34 @barbarabell @dellavicent. @grammy82 @lakelifelady also may have some thoughts for you.

Hello @kayleelayne,

Wow, what an uncomfortable symptom to have. I can only imagine how difficult it must be to just do the daily activities of life. Are you currently being seen by a neurologist? Have you ever seen a movement disorder specialist? These are neurologists who have special training in movement problems.

As you mentioned having migraines and vertigo, I'm wondering if you have ever been referred for vestibular therapy. It is a specific type of physical therapy and deals with vertigo problems.

I look forward to hearing from you again. Will you provide updates as to how you are doing?

Hello!!
I've been seen by 5 different neurologist, none of them having any idea what is going on, why or how.

I've been trying to get in to see a movement disorder specialist for 2 years now but OHSU in Oregon is the only location and I can't seem to get in with them.

I'm sorry I forgot to add. My migraines and vertigo are mostly gone. Except for once a month with my cycle. With is normal my entire life.

I will definitely provide updates. Because as of right now we still have no idea why or how. Or if I can even be fixed. No one really knows what is really wrong with me.
Thank you!

I would like to follow you and see what happens. I had a craniotomy in 2014. I have been researching your treatment since I read your post.

Did you have a craniotomy due to tics?

Unfortunately I'm still on the road to learning g what's wrong. The doctors have no clue.

No. My craniotomy was done because I had an access in my left temporal lobe from bacterial meningitis of my brain..
