Just wondering...sometimes after the call, it doesn't work out?
My husband is waiting for a liver. I've read and heard that sometimes you get the call only to find out after you get to the hospital that it won't work. Does this happen often? I don't remember being told this in any of our appointments. I want my husband to be prepared in case it happens to him.
Blessings,
JoDee

Be patient trust me you only want to get this done once the doctors know what they are doing you want the best one possible, I waited a few months I was near death but after you get it done a huge anxiety burden will be gone hopefully you get it soon
Jodee, your transplant team should have provided a phone number for potential donors to call. You could post it on social media.
I got my first call for a transplant and had a bag packed only to be told I was the #2. Got the second call 6 months later and all went well. It WILL happen 🤞
The same thing happened to me. 2 weeks later I had my transplant and the liver must have been a great one because I am 38 years post transplant on June 9th. Wish you a wonderful transplant journey. There is life after transplant.
@jaimedavis93 I am sitting here with fingers crossed the call comes in soon for you. The saying "all in due time" seems to fit here, doesn't it?!
My husband is a kidney transplant recipient. He was offered a kidney but had to decline it because he was on the last 3 days of a 14 day antibiotic regiment for a diverticulitis infection. So, someone else took his place. The nurses assured him he would be getting "the call" soon. He did, 2 weeks later! He and another patient received deceased donor kidneys from the same donor. That was 1 October 2016.
Gentle hugs being sent for getting that call soon, and patience!
