Water after 6pm?
Hello.
I watched a patient of National Jewish Hospital give a short presentation about MAC.
She said no water after 6 pm
No reason why.
I have started my medicine and take the R&E about 9pm.
2R and 3E.
Just started last week.
Does anyone else take in evening?

I have been going there for 2 years and have never heard no water after 6:00. I do know you can take sips of water for medication, etc. (at anytime if needed) but the professionals don't want you drinking several hours before bedtime (everyone's bedtime could be different) because you could aspirate and we try to avoid that at all cost.
Makes sense.
I think I'm going to move my medicine to different time.
That way less water at night.
Do you take the antibiotics?
How do you schedule them?
Thank you.
@sheila7a That is a usual precaution for people with GERD, whether or not they have Bronchiectasis or MAC. Since I have been tested and none was found, my pulmonologists have told me that restriction doesn't apply.
When I was taking the antibiotics I tried to take mine before 7 PM. After that time I try not to have anything more than a sip of water if needed. The doctor is more concerned with aspiration while you are sleeping.
I will have to change my schedule.
I take meds at 8pm.
I stay up late though.
I have had GERD for thirty or more years. Doctors never explained about medicine. I would just take Acidphex whenever. Then just Tums, then Pepcid.
I do have a wedge.
As I read all the information in these post I'm starting to see Acid Reflux more and more.
The Pulmonologist said nothing about GERD. Just asked me if I have ever had pneumonia.
I think back all the times I told my doctor how I get out of breath walking and have to stop and take that deep yawn.
How she mentioned a crackle while listening to my lungs but didn't hear the next appointment.
Never a CT scan suggested until I had to go to ER one day.
I didn't even think to ask is something going on with my lungs and nothing was ever mentioned by doctors.
Feel like a lot of years have gone by with this growing in my lungs.
Gosh, I had never heard this before either. Thank you for this update.
You are off antibiotics? How long did you take them?
MAC is cured?
I watch the NJH videos on YouTube.
I really had no clue about this infection in my lungs until I started watching.
Pulmonologist would show me CT scan and I had so much trouble with PFT.
Still didn't take it serious until found UJH(or they found me).
Then the weight started coming off and lost of appetite.
Just so many things started coming together.
Trouble breathing, tired all the time. The worse was when I started panting at the mall and could barely make it to my car.
Still I did not go to ER.
I didn't even think of it when several times at different places a person would ask me if I was okay? Did I need help?
Now I see I must have been breathing heavy and just always doing things on my own would just say no.
I hope that you are well rid of your infection and it never comes back.
I would cut myself off from eating after 7.
Then a glass of water with statin and aspirin.
Now I just don't know how to go about all this.
Just throw the 6 pills back at same time then dinner.
Or space them out between meals.
A lady on here posted she takes them all in morning with frozen yogurt.
I would like to see some comments on the different ways that people go about taking pills.
