Possible causes of belching: https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/symptoms/belching

Within the digestive system, the vagus nerve plays a crucial role in coordinating various processes, including burping. As food travels through the esophagus into the stomach, the vagus nerve senses the presence of gas and triggers the relaxation of the lower esophageal sphincter (LES), the muscle that separates the esophagus from the stomach. This relaxation allows the gas to escape in the form of a burp. Thus, the vagus nerve acts as a mediator between the stomach and the brain, facilitating the release of built-up gas.
Explore if you have something like SIBO, GERD, LPR, h. pylori. Also people with GERD sleep on an incline of 45 degrees. You could try that and see if it helps. Personally I sleep sitting up. Good luck!
I realize this is an old thread, but I noticed you asked if the original posters gallbladder was removed. I had mine removed 5 months ago. I’m having pain in my armpit and under arm behind the ribs along with other similar gallbladder pains I used to have. I worry it could be serious. Is this a post gallbladder removal issue? I can’t get into the GI doctor for 2 months.
Welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect @jenlang99. So sorry to hear about the pains you've been experiencing after your gallbladder surgery. I had gallbladder surgery about 15 years ago and recovered in maybe 2 weeks with no residual problems.
Since you can't get into the gastrointestinal doctor for awhile, could you portal message or call your primary care physician to ask about your symptoms?
