Withdrawal from Trazodone. Need hope
I am on day 10 trying to wean off 50mg of Trazodone. Taking it to sleep about 6months. This is terrible. I am dizzy and weak. Very anxious. Sometimes nauseated. Have to force myself to eat Trouble walking. I am under a Dr’s care but no one helping. I got off Xanax easier. Anyone successful at this? I need hope.

I am doing the same weaning off the ativan ..luckily only on it for about 20 days. Hoping this taper goes well. What a nightmare.
I've been taking clonaz.... for 5 years. Just 1mg. at night. I'm not sure it's been a bad thing for me. I was drug tested by my doctor in order to get my last prescription as it's becoming more difficult to get without hassles. It didn't even show up on the drug test. I think drugs are like alcohol as some can take a drink and then leave it and some cannot. I have never increased the 1 mg. though I am, in a way, addicted as I cannot sleep without it. My goal is to cut to .5 mg. as I have in the past and then work on my sleep routine which, most importantly, includes getting up when you wake up and staying up then taking a good nap mid day. This works well for me. My only issue with taking clonazopam is that it makes me rather unable to get up once I first awaken and causes me to sleep late which disturbs the next night of sleep. Rather a bad cycle. What works best for me is to have this med for sleep as a backup in case of travel etc. when it's more difficult to sleep and when you are less likely to sleep late. Use it in emergencies only and not as a daily med.
I’ve never heard of these side effects from such a ver low dose of Trazodone. I used to take 50mg at night and one day decided to reduce to 25 and noticed no difference. Maybe you should go to 25mg for a week then 12.5 for a few days then every other night then stop. It will be easier that way.
am off now on day 3 ....still having headaches. but less often and less intense. alot of people seem surprised that trazdone causes bad withdrawl , drs included. but it does in some people.
I’m glad to hear you’re starting to feel a bit better. Yes, it is a little surprising to hear of your withdrawal issues but then again every “body” is different.
extra.. you should taper down the nightly dose... that should make it easier. But once your body gets dependent on a sleep-aid, it will be hard to sleep without them. Why do you want to quit taking it?
i was on the traz for bad insomina , only 24 days and start to get haorrible headaches. turns out trazdone is not good for migraine suffers. while tapering down they put me on ativan..now im tapering that very slowly and supplementing with less dangerous sleep aids. dont want to be on a regular dose of any benzo
I am on a daily dose of Ativan. Been taking it daily for sleep and anxiety for almost 2 years now. It has helped me tremendously with both issues. It's about my quality of life.....and it's so much better taking Ativan (lorazepam). My doctor tells me that she knows I need this med for the rest of my life now, and she is fine with that. Thank heaven. ❤️
I get that. I'm just worried about the link to dementia with long time use. And having struggled thru the nightmare withdrawal I just want off all of em. But yes I so understand why some stay
Totally agree. I was in .5 mg of Ativan and it took six months of a very slow taper to get off it. Too many long term issues with benzos.
