Post Covid weird symptoms

Posted by gail333 @gail333, Oct 23, 2023

Since I had Covid (3x) I have been experiencing a kind of electric shock type of feeling that starts at my toes and zaps me up my body to my fingertips. Almost like a fork in a socket but not as intense. I experience this anywhere up to 6x a day. Is this normal? What is this? Is it just weird remnants of covid?
I’ve had 3 Covid shots btw. But I have a weak immune system.
Thanks in advance for any advice or input.
Gail

In order to live my life in peace I had to get to the point where I decided whatever was meant to be will be. Believe it or not I have a lot more peace with that mind frame. I'm so sorry that you're going through this I feel for you and I completely understand. Reach out anytime. You will get through this hang in there.

Klonopin helps me too. It turns down the anxiety we all are experiencing from our bodies turning against us!
Many doctors won’t prescribe Klonopin. Thank God I found one who will.
I call these feelings “adrenaline rush” but I think we’re experiencing the same thing.

Yes, I am about a year out and have the "zaps." They are mostly at night as I am going to sleep. As best I can tell they are anxiety related. Covid somehow damages the brain and can cause a lot of anxiety and low Serotonin. I would try an SSRI and possibly something like Klonipin. It helped me a lot.

I’m getting them. It’s almost been a year. The worst for me is the brain fog and the dry mouth. Good luck to us all.

AH ha! @suefish - I'm sure others may have written about dry mouth and I'd not seem them. Your post caught my eye. Mine has been horrible and worsening. Until last week when I ended my consulting practice just short of 44 years, I managed it. But when presenting a webinar, I could barely get the words out as my mouth, even while sipping water, kept getting so dry and then my throat sore and inability to articulate that I apologized too often.

I have some brain fog but not that much. My symptoms are different. I share the dry mouth with you - and the dentist and other docs have rules out meds, dental hygiene (I'm "religious" about it!), other possible causes. It points to just one more symptom. Maybe it's neurological? It's one of the areas with which I've not yet done my own research.

Hi @jeindc. My saliva glands have gone thru assorted types of functioning from none to some and appear to be tied to activity/ central nervous system malfunction like other parts of our bodies ie the battery analogy and when they are asked to work they get tired and can just stop🙃. Sucking on vitamin C gummies, only 1 when really needed due to histamine reactions🙃, suggested by my provider and has been the only help. The citrus apparently helps stimulate the functioning of the glands. Hope this suggestion brings some relief with the quickest healing journey for you🌈

I also have the toe zaps...almost electrical and painful enough to make me go "Ouch". It comes from the two COVID toes I have during my infection in 2020...when both toes turned dark blue. This symptom has never gotten better in the 5 years post COVID.

I also have significant dry mouth and extremely dry skin...the dry mouth has improved now that I am three months on Low Dose Naltrexone but the dry skin remains. I have tried almost every skin cream on the planet (including the expensive ones sold by dermatologists) but have found mixing a simple cream with a drop or two of oil helps longer than any cream.

I'm laughing in empathy - because so did I when you posted. It has been so bad. I have to have mints with me to try to get saliva moving.
