reaction from LD Naltrexone

Posted by sailorswimmers @sailorsrwinners, Sep 2, 2024

I started taking Low dose Naltrexone in early July compounded to 4.5mg, the dose that helped relieve some of my fatigue. However, now I have very annoying skin itching in various places (hands, ankles upper torso, upper arms). I also have a rash under my breasts and on my upper back. I intend to discontinue the LDN for awhile even though it has helped my fatigue. Has anyone experienced this kind of reaction to LDN? And is this a common side effect?

Husband with LC has worked up to 4.5 mg Naltrone (compounded) He can’t tell if it helps.

I just started LDN - 4 weeks in and have not had an adverse reaction to-date. I understand that it doesn't really take effect to alleviate symptoms until you've been on it for 3 - 4 months. I've got my fingers crossed!!

I developed a very itchy rash on y chest after compounding to 4.5 mg LD Naltrexone. I discontinued the Naltrexone and the rash eventually faded. It had faded by the time I got an appointment with a dermatologist. So she couldn't identify it in any way. Now I restarted the Naltrexone and are about to start taking 4.5mg. I guess we'll soon see whether I get the same rash.

I've been on 1.5 for just over a week and have had bad rash on legs and arms. I thought it was from the sun but I never had issues before. Thought maybe more sensitive with new medication. It eased for awhile but still irritating. I up to 3 this week. Gonna try but wondering if LDN is causing this.

My rash lasted for several months even after discontinuing Naltrexone. By the time I could get an appointment the rash had faded and the dermatologist could not identify its cause. I have restarted the Naltrexone and a up to 4.5 where I will stay. No rash yet!!

Good to hear. I have an appt with mine in a couple of weeks after I increase to 3 mg. I had a similar rash last year and Dr said it might be a lotion. I changed and it seemed to work but wasn't on LDN then. It's not super horrible so I'm gonna keep using to see if it gets better after I up my dose this week. I know the sun really seems to hurt just being in it for a minute so might be a connection there to something I'm taking.

I’ve had no negative reaction from LDN, but haven’t felt improvement either. I’m now on full dose (5mg) for about four months. Wondering how long to continue? My doctor is willing to prescribe as long as I want to keep trying.

I just started 3 mg of Naltrexone
yesterday. I am diagnosed Long Covid with fatigue, insomnia, and PEM. I find that sleep is the critical factor for energy. What time of day do you take it? Morning or Evening?

Just to say I’m in the Uk, here LDN is started on much lower doses than being taken here like 0.5 mg and only very slowly increased to up to 4.5 mcg after a few months. Obviously it’s difficult to tell if UK liquid med.ingredients is identical format to US, or between chemists. I take a lot of prescription pills, and have had some reactions to ‘fillers’, not the drug itself, but never heard of Uk users of LDN getting skin problems…I’ll keep a look out and report back if I can find info.
