MAC again
It's 7 years since I finished the MAC cocktail and it seems the MAC has returned. Is it too soon to go back on that cocktail? I was very sick with it at that time and don't know if I can survive another 18 months. Are there any other options?

My pulmonologist encouraged me to get the vaccines available including Covid boosters. I did until the last several months when an autoimmune issue that had been in remission recurred. The immunologist (only one with opening) told me not to get the Covid booster until things settled down. The pulmonologist repeated the pneumococcal vaccine from a couple years ago because I had an inadequate response and I had no issue afterwards. I have appointment with Penn immunology next month and am hoping they’ll ok the booster since I want to travel a few more places.
To my knowledge, I do not have MAC but have bronchiectasis and a possible immune/antibody disorder, and I have continued to get all recommended vaccines. Immunologist wanted me to wait 2-3 weeks between vaccinations. That's the only restriction I remember.
That is exactly the counsel I got - 2 weeks or more between injections, also no injections if I am having an active Asthma attack (wait 48 hours) or a viral illness (wait 7-14 days). And the pharmacist told us if we get Covid we have to wait 90 days - that happened to us last fall.
I understand what you’re saying. I’ve been going through this for eight years now some days I feel it’s getting worse some days I feel it’s getting better. I’ve started visualization and trying to manifest the healing myself every time before I go to bed I envision my lungs as clear and perfect and healed. I envision myself, climbing mountains, running marathons, visiting foreign countries and walking through all the markets
Still not on any treatment - ID is adopting watch and wait which has pleased me. The thoughts of going on antibiotics again fills me with fear. They are still testing sputum samples for antibiotic resistance and sensitivities. I have gone from 60kg to 54kg in the space of 6 weeks which is not good. It is all a worry as very few people understand how challenging this disease is. Do lots of airway clearance, drink plenty of water and eat well. Go for a walk if you feel up to it! Thinking of you
Yes, the weight loss component has been the worst part of my MAC/bronchiectasis. The fatigue and coughing aren't fun, but the weight loss has a mortality component to it that's scary. Just letting you know you're not alone--it's very difficult to keep up your fighting weight--but hang in there and keep trying. Lots of calorie-dense foods! Best of luck.
I was on the 3 twice both for 18 months each. With a couple year gap in between. I tolerated the meds really well. Am on them again for the third time. But having done issues. Waiting to talk to doc on Monday.
Try them out and see. Hopefully you’ll not be too bad.
