Chest discomfort every now & then after replacing Pacemaker .
I have chest discomfort occasionally after a Pacemaker replacement to add an extra wire. Medical people can find nothing wrong.

When you say chest discomfort are you talking about discomfort around where pacemaker is? Or is not in the area of your device?
If so you just had another surgery the area will be sore. I am on my 3rd ICD/Pacemaker. It takes time to heal the area and your pacemaker and wires. Your prior device and wires probably were incapsulated which reduces irritation to body and that is now gone and body will have to go through that process all over again.
I sometimes forget my ICD/Pacemaker is there. If I moved my left arm above my head, sleep wrong, etc. it can cause irritation to the wires and device and I feel irriation and discomfort. With you just having new surgery most likely (did you say device was changed and a new wire) is causing discomfort as it heals and encapsulates again.
If you are talking about shortness of breath, heart chest pain that is another matter. Any shortness of breath? Are you under a lot of stress, anxiety? It too can cause chest discomfort. Are you doing a lot more lately with your arms, reaching, etc.
The last time I had my new device replaced my EP found significant scar tissue and spent a lot of time removing it. He told me I was going to be sore because he had to remove so much scar tissue.
Lately I have been having some pain and irritation around my device. I checked with our pace clinic and they asked me about arm movements and other things that can cause irriation to wires and device. And yes I was forgetting to limit my left arm and watch how I sleep (not on top of device).
Thanks, my pain is more of an ache, but it's getting to ache less. My second pacemaker was installed in July of 2024. Since my doctor is not concerned, maybe I should not be either.
We must be twins! lol
Hello guyklick777
jc76 has provided you with some excellent advice.
I also experience discomfort/dull ache around the general area of my pacemaker from time to time. (I received my biventricular pacemaker - the 3 wire type like yours - in 2022.) Sometimes I can connect the discomfort to my doing something physical before - like golfing or raking grass. But sometimes I experience that dull achy feeling for no discernable reason. It just happens.
When I experience it, though, I wrap a gel pack, which I keep in the refrigerator, in a towel and place it over the site for 10 to 15 minutes. And I have learned to anticipate possible issues by doing the gel pack thing after I come in from doing something that I KNOW will cause me grief later on. I have found it easier to head off the discomfort/pain before it starts then trying to relieve it after it is fully blown.
Otherwise, like jc76, I am fairly unaware of my device on a day-to-day basis.
Anyhow, using the gel pack, always wrapped in a towel to provide a buffer between your skin and the cold, works for me everytime.
Hope that helps.
All the best.
Thank you!
