My husband who has alzheimer’s has not wanted to eat in the last two days. I have been spoon feeding to get him to eat. He has always loved milkshakes...today at lunch he only drank when I offered it to him. This morning I made two eggs...he barely ate one and a bit of coffee cake.
I ask him what he would like and he doesn't care.
Otherwise he is attentive and alert.

How are things going with everyone ?

My dad is still eating pretty well, but his mobility is much worse and he seems very weak and not as talkative. He celebrated his 88th birthday last week but doesn’t remember it now. I got him an ice cream cake.

Still on NH waiting list. We did get the DNR and other orders about no tube feeding, limited antibiotics and limited medical intervention. He’s able to feed himself still. Portions are smaller.

I think they start shutting down. My husband died with Parkinson's dementia and he had lost 50 pounds by then.

Do you recall how long it took for that weight loss? I’m sorry for your loss.

My cousin who had Vascular dementia, later thought to be mixed with ALZ, lost weight gradually over 6 years, but most of it over about a year. She ate well, but lost weight nonetheless. She was extremely thin at the end. It was during covid so my visits were limited, but the MC told me she never lost her appetite. They were surprised when she passed away one morning in their presence. She was bed bound by this time. She was on hospice for 2 years,
