Vimpat - are memory issues transient?
I have just started on Vimpat. I am slowly titrating up to 200 mg. I am also on 500 mg of lamictal for the last several years. The Vimpat is an add on. I have been on numerous anticonvulsants and this is the first time I have ever had memory issues. I know that Vimpat can help with memory but currently it is giving me short term memory problems. Has anyone had the experience of memory issues with Vimpat being transient as their body adjusts to the med?

I’m on 200mg lacosimide am and pm. No add-on so far but neuro mentioned Brivact(sp?) if another grand mal.
My memory is terrible. Since last year when started lacosimide have titrated up to 200mg am and 200pm
Thanks Chris, and you also!

2 ReactionsHi @baa and @hillsboro
I believe I have not heard from both of you recently. What are the updates? Baa, how was your experience at Vanderbilt?
I say I believe I have not heard from you, as my memory has not been that well. As I have shared in other posts, I am back on AED (Keppra) after some tonic-clonic seizures and status epilepticus last year. At first, I struggled a lot with the side-effects of Keppra, but with the recurrent dosage reductions done by my doctor, I am doing much better :-).
Remembering members' experiences and epilepsy journeys when I only know them by their usernames has become more difficult for me since I have been on Keppra. Does anyone here also face the same difficulty?
I wonder if others might consider also sharing their first names when they feel comfortable doing so? This would make it easier for me to remember and relate to each person's unique story in our supportive community. Of course, I completely respect that privacy is important, and this would be entirely optional for anyone who prefers to maintain anonymity.
Have a nice Sunday!

I’ve been on Vimpat for 9 years so I don’t remember, but I wasn’t on the other drug you mentioned. I did change to the generic version lacosamide about 4-5 years ago and I know I haven’t had any problems with it. I used to have bad memory absent seizures all day before I went on Vimpat and it definitely helped get rid of them. I have to take 150mg in the am and 225mg pm to keep them at bay though. I hope it works out for you
