Excessive mucus without cough
Dear kind community group
I am Hisham Hussain. 40 years
I have been suffering with excessive mucus coming from lungs with out coughing 3 months ago.
I find difficulty to expel continually accumulating phlegm coming from my lungs to throat
my case get worsen day by day and i feel recently short-breathing.
what make my case get worse is that i have not cough to help in expelling mucus out so it go to accumulate into lungs and airways.
I took montelukast and xyzal medicines for 2 weeks but i did not feel any better
have you found anything that helps ?

As of now no sign of growth. I am really frustrated. My employer is giving me a lot of trouble too. The mucus is exhausting and really uncomfortable. My upper torso still feels like it is on fire. I don't know what to do. Rheumatology basically laughed at me. My pantoprazole dosage was doubled and I have continued to avoid acidic foods. I have seen every specialist at this point other than oncology and just do not know what to do. I maintain a very clean enviornment and have continued on the advair, flonase, and certizine and nothing is helping.
William, do you mind me asking what part of the country you are in? I am experiencing similar issues and am curious if we have similar living environments. I am in Massachusetts.
I am in central Illinois, so a lot of cornfields. I don't know how similar it is to Massachusetts
@julianned- Oh boy, the frustration is building and I don't blame you. I thoroughly believe that as the earth warms more and more bacteria and spores are in the air, or on the ground. This is all so new no one yet knows what they all are.
I had spots in my eyes, double vision and I went to a neurologist. The head CT scan picked up a lot of plaque in one of my right arteries. I had a stent put in and the problem went away. But you said that this all checked out?
There are more medicines out there than Pantoprazole. Ask to try Omeprazole. It takes a while to work.
Have you been to a Pulmonologist? It sounds as if that might be your next stop.
Has the doctor returned your call? What does he suggest for you to do now?
Interesting...probably not very similar. I think the nearest corn field is an hour away from me.
Hi Merry, thanks for your response! My head ct scan did not show anything out of the ordinary. I actually started on omeprozole for a few weeks before going on pantoprazole, but maybe something else would be better. I did see a pulmonologist and they did note some sort of obstruction, but they told me it was likely asthma and gave me an inhaler, which has not helped. I continue to experience the shortness of breath even when sitting there doing nothing. I have a followup with the pulmonologist next week so maybe that will help. My primary care returned my call and basically said the next step would be to get a second opinion. I am at a loss... Side note - one of my cowoerkers suggested genetic testing and I mentioned it to my doctor as a diagnostic tool but she did not seem enthusiastic about it. Any thoughts? Someone else mentioned mitochondrial disease. Any thoughts on that? I googled it and it sounds like me, but at this point EVERYTHING sounds like me.
Hi
can you tell me if your dr. prescribed the serrapeptase and if it actually works?
Hi all, quick update. My ENT doctor prescribed Breo Ellipsa for me on a hunch. This medicine is absolutely amazing. While it does not fix the problem entirely, it provides so much relief. I am actually able to go to my internship and function to my best ability. Once in a while, I get a little mucus buildup that can be solved with a little water. While this is not a cure, it had improved my quality of life so much. I am working with this ENT to possibly find the cause now, but I wanted to share this if it can help anyone.
Thank you for sharing! I am glad that you are having some relief and I hope it continues to improve!
Frustration is at a new high. Today I saw a gaststroenterologist who told me that there is nothing wrong with me, to get over it, to stop focusing on myself, and and that mucus is nothing serious. All of this in a 4 minute appointment without him even examining me. He did not care to hear of my other symptoms (nor the fact that mucus has gotten stuck in my throat while driving and i have had to remove it with my hand). I really hope no one has any experience like this. Being young has been a hurdle. The only thing keeping me sane is that I told my pulmonologists this (they believe it is a stomach problem) and they said they were dismayed by the GI doctor's response and to see a different one.
