Hello Hisham we're so glad you have joined us! It does sound like you have asthma so I will be interested to know what your doctor says. Have you been sick at all before or after this started? Do you have a fever? Sometimes it's good to know what things make these breathing difficulties worse. Sometimes things like cold drinks, cold air, exercise, or even dairy products can produce more mucus, but this is serious if you are having trouble breathing. Please update soon if you are able to see a doctor as soon as you can! This will be very helpful for you if you have asthma or something else. Take good care.

THANKS of all of you kind people for your concern
Thank you @jms7
Thank you @colleenyoung
I want to say that I started to suffer with having excess of mucus 3 months ago and it last for 2 months WITHOUT anther any symptom. after that I began to find difficulty in breath and i feel that my lung could not do its function because of i feel mucus get accumulating in airways.
I do not have anther symptoms like fever or cold . just continually excess of mucus in which i find difficulty in throw it out and recently problem in breathing.
I did swab throat and it found diplococci and candida and also did x -ray for chest
I sent those tests to the doctor and give me medicine;azithromycine 500 mg antibiotic for 3 days and montelukast and levocetirizine.
I take these medicines for 2 weeks but I could not get better.

I want to add if it is safe to use Expectorant medicine like mucosolvan to help in expelling phlegm But i am afraid if this can give bad impact because i do not have coughing to push mucus out SO may using expectorant medicine would not be right choice in my case.

thanks for your kindness gentle people

@hishamhussain, Excessive mucous without cough, difficult breathing when I exercised or walked uphill. This was me. I had post nasal dripping for a long while. And quite suddenly my breathing became difficult. Complete cardiology workup and pulmonology showed no heart or lung issues. So pulmonologist, taking into account the terrible humidity and pollen count, attributed it to environmentally caused. I also developed what felt like a huge lump in my chest that I couldn't get rid of. Expectorants didn't do anything to loosen it. By this time I had completed tests, and saw pulmonologist. And he started me on a once a day fluticasone inhaler, added montelukast , and an emergency albuterol inhaler/as needed. It took about 3 weeks for the lump in my chest/lungs to loosen. I have been doing this treatment, since mid-July. I am feeling much improvement. But with a change in weather conditions due to winter season, I do not know for sure. The plan is to start tapering me of some of these meds after I see doc in late January. My pulmonologist says that exercise induced asthma (bronchospasms) is showing improvement, but not yet controlled. So he will keep following up with my progress. I want to add that my primary care physician referred me to pulmonologist for all of this.
Sending you hope and strength. Rosemary

@hishamhussain, I had been having a post nasal drip. So I think it came from my nose. But doctors are not for sure what was going on. X-ray, stress test with imaging, pulmonary function tests ruled out lung or heart conditions. We are treating it as being related to seasonal allergies which were really awful in my area this year. My only experience with any kind of a breathing/lung issue is very recent.
Has a doctor given you any information regarding your x-ray and your swab results?

I am going to ask @hironopiro and @katemn to look at this question for you. They might have some useful suggestions for you.
Sending you strength and hope, Rosemary

I've struggled for years with excess mucus from sinuses and chest, but I also have a strong cough. My doctor prescribed many different inhalers and nasal sprays and none worked. Saw a pulmonologist who suspected both post nasal drip AND acid reflux. I was subjected to to 24-hour pH study. Test revealed higher than normal acid levels in my esophagus even though I didn't have any classic symptoms of acid reflux (heartburn). I just started taking a proton pump inhibitor medicine. Have to wait 8-12 weeks to see if it helps, but I've noticed some improvement after a few days already. Seems odd to me that acid in my esophagus causes excess mucus in my airways, but a small amount of aerosolized acid breathed in can irritate the lining of your bronchial tubes and your body's response is to create mucus to protect the lining of your bronchial tubes. Ask you doctor about the 24hr pH test. One more thing to try to rule out.

Hello @hishamhussain, I can ONLY speak from my own experience .. but I also was diagnosed with asthma for years. I had many/various medication prescribed for many years. Misdiagnosed .. UNTIL my Pulmonologist had my sputum/mucus "cultured". The cultures diagnosed that I had MAI/MAC .. MYCOBACTERIUM AVIUM Complex Pulmonary Disease. I absolutely cannot tell you that is what your issue is .. but you might request that your mucus be cultured JUST to rule it out .. PLUS if you have ANY type of bacterial infection the culturing can guarantee exactly what antibiotic will knock out that particular bacteria. Hope this helps just a little! Sending you a hug in this tough time! Katherine

I have Bronchiectasis in my lungs. i use serrapeptase enzymes to clear mucus in my lungs. i don't cough it up at all. it breaks it down and the body clears away in a few weeks. please google Serrapeptase enzyme and read about. as it also can prevent the blood from clotting which is not good before surgery. also if you cut yourself, you need to clot. I take a lower dose. initially I took a larger dose and it worked VERY VERY well at reducing mucus in my lungs. as soon as I felt better, I lowered the dose and now I am maintaining very well.
