Pain in eye after cataract surgery: When does it get better?
Hi friends has anyone had pain behind the eye 9 to 12 months after the cataract surgery? My husband still going down a dark road fighting the pain in his eyes he’s been to so many physicians no one seems to know what it is they all say his eye and cataracts are fine the surgery went well he had a expensive cataract lens put in which is called a panoptic, he feels the doctor did not place it properly or that is too strong for his eye. He’s been on drop after drop five or seven different drops sometimes they help most of the time they don’t.

I’ve had a severe dry eye problem which occurred after cataract surgery. Many yrs ago. Looking for solution for the dry eye condition. Have had many different treatments which haven’t helped. Affects my visual acuity.

1 ReactionHas anyone had YAG for secondary cataract? Any side effects of was it smooth sailing.
Thanks,
Jake
Hi I also have corneal neuropathic pain since my cataract surgery in Nov 24. I' being treated with plasma drops made from my blood (PRP) and with Xiidra. There has been some improvement, but this condition does not have a cure, only treatment.
Pretty common procedure post IOL implantation - also nothing else works ... Nd:YAG is the type if laser used to cut out the posterior capsule (issue is called PCO).

Did you have floaters after YAG?
I had cataract surgery on both eyes which went fine and I thought that would be the end of it. I just don't like the idea of anyone messing around with my eyes.
Thank you for your reply,
Jake
Have not required, YAG procedure - yet. Most do at some point.
Not sure I understand ... if you felt cataract surgery was necessary because you couldn't see, and removal of PCO membrane is common to that ...?

I could see ok but Dr recommend surgery and after cataract surgery was done I no longer needed drops for high interocular pressure. I’m just leery of floaters or other side effects. I wonder how often side effects occur with secondary cataracts And if they go away relatively quickly.
Take care,
Jake
Actually, the side effect is PCO - and the only solution is Nd:YAG laser procedure. Discussion then revolves around "circumferential vs cruciate" process.
In reply to Sunny 1971@sunny1971. I had cataract surgery in one eye (had Fuchs Dystrophy). The pain did not subside ( usually on a scale 5) and it has been 2 years. I use Tylenol. Decided not to have the other eye done. I was told that sometimes cataract surgery does not improve the eye. I have edema in eye. Sure hope you do better.
