What are your accommodation recommendations when coming to Mayo?

Here are links to hotel accommodations in all three Mayo locations:

Where is your favorite place to stay when going to Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Jacksonville or Scottsdale/Phoenix? Why?

I wish you all the best with your surgery and recovery. You’re in the best of hands with the medical teams at Mayo…I’m a bit biased but it’s an experience like no other! You’ll be well taken care of there. ☺️

A quick tip: With your appointments on Monday being pre-op testing, usually that means a trip to the lab for blood work first thing. The lab’s a busy place (Charlton lobby level Desk L-A) so plan on arriving 30 minutes early for that appointment because the wait can be long first thing in the morning. Especially nerve-wracking if you have another appointment to get to right after that. Once you’re registered in the lab however, if you see you’re going to be late for your next appointment, you can just leave and return to the lab later. You’re registered all day!

Don’t hesitate to pop in with any questions! And please let me know how you’re doing, ok?

Thanks for the tip on the lab appt. They have them separated by only 20 minutes. EEK! I will plan to get there early. Thanks!

Oh for sure, go 30 min early. If your lab appointment is super early in the morning, that’s the busiest time there. Like I said, if you’re running late…once you’ve checked in at the lab you can leave and come back later. It’s all good though! There’s always 15 minutes of slack time built into your appointments through the day. If your appointment time says 10, your actual appt time is 10:15. Don’t sweat it.
You’ll find everyone very accommodating. ☺️

Yes, call hotel directly and ask about Mayo discount. Many hotels offer and the discount may not be available online.
If in Rochester and not staying downtown, ask if hotel provides shuttle.

Very good advice to call hotel LOCAL NUMBER DIRECTLY AND BE SURE TO BE TALKING TO HOTEL!!!! Last spring, I googled Kahler and went to their site. There was the picture of the Kahler and an 800 number to call for booking which I called. It was not the Kahler but organization pretending to be their booking agent. They booked me and charged me a $20 booking fee as well. Then I realized that they were not the Kahler. I complained and told them I would tell my credit card not to pay them. I said I needed wheelchair assistance, and they were obstructing my ability to get it. I was lucky and they gave me my money back.

Hopefully this account is still active, I have a question, if you don't book online, how else would you book? Just call them directly? New to this and I need to be there this Sunday. Thanks.

I stay at Econolodge on S Broadway in Rochester. I call the hotel directly to make reservations. I have been staying there annually since 2015. Wonderful continental breakfast, exercise room, next door to Perkins, friendly staff, free shuttle to the clinic, reasonable pricing (Mayo Clinic rate), clean rooms with bare floors. I absolutely love that they have no carpet in the rooms. Makes for a much cleaner room. No worries if you need to change your reservation due to scheduling at Mayo. Have to leave early? No problem. If you need to extend and they are at full capacity you are put on a wait list. When I was there this past June they were not close to running at full capacity as they were prior to Covid.

Hello,
I am looking for places to stay for my daughter and myself within traveling distance (10 miles) to Mayo. She is volunteering from Jun - Aug. Looking for 3 month stay. I checked Airbnb. All seem to be little pricy. So are there any short term housing choices around Mayo?

How great of your daughter to volunteer. Could you give some additional information.
It is it through some organization that helps find housing?
Is it in Rochester? Temporary housing in Rochester can be expensive.
The cheapest option might be to find as a roommate.

I have been looking directly online in Airbnb, VRBO, hotels ...If there are any apartment complex that provides month to month works (furnished or furnished - both options are fine)

Yes, in Rochester, close to Downtown or St Mary's campus.

I will do some more searching (live in Rochester), but one option is to contact Mayo Clinic's free Concierge Services? Usually provide information for patients, but may be able to suggest temporary housing for volunteers.

Concierge services
https://www.mayoclinic.org/patient-visitor-guide/minnesota/concierge-services
By phone 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday-Friday: 507-538-8438
Email: concierge@mayo.edu

There is a company that owns some smaller apartments buildings that do short term leases, I see the Parker has room available in June. Nothing fancy. I do not know anything about these apartments, but assume better price the larger units in Rochester. https://www.residentproperties.us/

Mayo has an on-line classified for employees that I can not assess (not an employee), there may be ads on there. Does she have a contact with a Mayo Employee who can check the Mayo classifieds?
