I echo Justin, no need to apologize!!
My experience was amazing and trust me when I say, you will learn many life skills and other techniques to help manage your pain. No need to worry about sitting in one spot for very long because your day is filled with many appointments. Here is a link that will help explain.
http://www.mayoclinic.org/departments-centers/pain-rehabilitation-center/overview

Goals
The primary goal of the Pain Rehabilitation Center is to restore functioning
and improve quality of life for persons suffering with chronic pain. The
program emphasizes the discontinuation of opioid medication for the
treatment of chronic non-cancer pain and the return to a fulfilling lifestyle.
Other important goals include:
• Return to regular daily activities
• Increase physical strength, stamina and flexibility
• Reduce use of pain medications
• Minimize pain behaviors
• Learn stress management techniques
• Return to gainful employment
• Resume leisure and recreational activities
• Improve interpersonal relationships
• Reduce reliance on health-care professionals, with improved ability to self-
manage chronic pain

I pray you find relief soon.

Chronic pain, is just horrible. You will come out of the clinic as new energized you. I was so frustrated and discouraged going into it but I would not change a thing back then. I am sure it is nothing less than better now. I highly recommend when traditional therapies are unsuccessful.

Good luck

Hello lynettgable. I have been searching for members who have gone through a pain rehabilitation program.

While I continue my search, would you mind sharing a bit more about your interest in the pain rehab program? Was the program recommended to you at your most recent visit to Mayo Clinic? What concerns do you have about the program that you are looking for other members to address?

I went through Mayo's Pain Mgmt. Clinic in May of 2015. I have mixed feelings about my experience. The program attempts to teach you how to "manage" your pain without opioids. It also shows you how to find alternate ways of doing things to minimize your pain. They were able to get me off Opioids the first week with minimal discomfort, which for others was traumatic. I have maintained an Opioid-free life since the class. Their approach proved to be too much to remember and maintain successfully. Although I do not take opioids for pain, I have found a lifesaving way to minimize my pain. About 2 months ago my doctor asked if I would consider Medical Marijuana as a treatment for my pain as it is available in Minnesota since August. I agreed and and after a brief visit with a state-approved MD who referred me to a state approved pharmacy to decide what form and dose would be best for me. It was advised I take a 50/50 mixture of THC and HBD orally twice daily and a 100% THC SL spray for breakthrough pain which I rarely need. I have seen MANY posts regarding their "experiences" with otc or mail order forms of low quality marijuana and have this advice.......if you haven't tried the real stuff as directed, don't knock it. No, it may not perform as satisfactorily for everyone, but that does not mean it is a bad thing.
As for cost.....in Minnesota you are to pay the doctor $250 in cash or debit card as well as another $250 for the pharmacy PLUS, for me, for both solutions I pay $250/month. the 50/50 solution alone costs $180 per month. As a deal breaker for me, I cut back on the Lyrica I take which for me was $650/month so I am actually saving money.

I live in Iowa so the medical marijuanna is not an option. I am planning on going through the pain clinic. What do you think your outcome would be if you didnt have that option?

I did not for many years. I am comparing the medical marijuana to traditional prescribed medicines and the results last longer without Rx affects.

Don't get me wrong. I HAVE benefited from the pain clinic. I have learned how to relax, how to pace myself, learned new ways of doing tasks, and a host of other ways to minimize. I also made new friends who share the same challenges in life as me. Many were in worse shape than I. Maybe you should consider moving to Minnesota and have the best of both worlds. LOL. Good luck at the pain clinic. They are wonderful, dedicated people who truly care about YOU.

In 2008 I had knee replacement go bad. It got infected and dr that did surgery wouldn't take it out. Even after being on iv antibiotics still running temps 104 one time was admitted to hospital 105.3. He wouldn't listen to Infectious disease dr. She said you need to go somewhere else. Went to Mayo they took out waited 3 months thought it was clean that got infected. Numerous surgies including muscle flap on knee to try keep it in. Finally took out and waited several months then put in rod to fuse leg. After 10 months that got infected so they had to take out. Surgeon had a really hard time getting it out and fractured my tronchanteric in hip. Very hard fracture to heal had plate wires put in but didnt heal and have broken all wires and is displaced fracture. I have hip dysplasia in that hip also. So....17 surgeries on leg, fused leg, hip fracture, dysplasia now back giving me problems I have nerve ablations done with all back stuff. My good knee now bad as I use it so much had scope done took out bone chips almost all meniscus. I mentioned to my hip/knee surgeon several times about pain rehabilitation he says wont help. Im always going to have pain. Need new hip, knee on good side and back surgery but they are scared to because of risk of infection. I know theyre frustrated. A month ago had stem cell and PRP done at Mayo out if pocket cost. My body doesnt like hardware. Had numerous infections including VRE and MRSA. Ive been on pain meds long time want to quit. Tried acupuncture and massage didnt help. Im always in pain even with meds. Was recently to Pain Clinic at Mayo they said not much they can do suggested Pain Rehabilitation Program.
Fears are program is 5 days 8 to 5 for 3 weeks. I cant hardly sit for more than hour, walking painful, I use walker for stability as dr says dont fall your fused leg will probably break in pieces. Im scared of the pain during the program and endurance. The form they have is your primary dr to complete with restrictions etc. I dont know if all the drs in the program work with your problems what they expect etc. Also should I contact my ortho drs before I enter program to see if there are physical things I shouldn't do.
Sorry about the book but thought needed to give the big picture.
Thanks for your help. I dont know what to do and am anxious about program but I'm out of options.

Go for it, girl. Never give up. I think it would be good to get the blessing from your Ortho doc.

I feel so badly for you. Yet, we all accept this kind of care. The VREs the MRSAs and we didn't cause it. It's like we are expected to clean up the MDs mess. I lost my life, husband, house, life, friends due to continuous md errors. I know I am synical,
however we, the patients have to live the rest of our lives in pain and you think meditation is going to fix your mistakes, meaning MDs. It's very hard for me to go from a millionaire to living alone on Soc. dis. And no future. I have tried everything in nearly ten years.
I feel for that patient.
