Does the tiredness go away later in the day with sleep apnea?

Does the tiredness as a result of sleep apnea go away later in the day? So you will feel tired in the morning and afternoon but you can feel better in the evening, peculiarly if you had a nap in the day?

Or does the tiredness state stay steady state all the time?

Those that had or still have untreated Sleep Apnea if you didn't have to wake up at a certain time would you continue sleeping for hours? What makes you wake up and get out of bed then? How does the rst of your day feel? Is it good in anyway?

Sleep apnea is real. I use my cpap machine every night. On nights when I can’t-power outage, for a few days following a recent surgery- I wake breathless and with an aching chest/lungs. It changed my life.

I have mild apnea. The big concern was my low oxygen scores. Oxygen is part of every functioning organ of the body being healthy. I have never been wedded to living long -- just living healthy. I have two personal friends who are avid users of their CPAP machines because they have made a difference in their perceived health. Plus a neighbor and friend of mine in SLC (had an MD and a PHD) was into sleep research at the University of Utah. He was not motivated by money or he wouldn't have been in my hood. My sleep doc has used his for 25 years. I think the popularity is low on using these as it is such a process to accustom oneself to the use. My next step is an overnight oxymeter. And, honestly, I don't know if it is the CPAP or returning to regular exercise is the answer, but through this whole process, I am improving. My fuzzy headedness has diminished though I am still more tired than I should be, but maybe age is finally catching up with me. As I stated above I enjoy my sleep and was good at it. Wearing this device has been disruptive, but I think I'm a believer.

If you have Sleep Apnea is it possible to feel drained upon waking up but then as the day goes on you feel better

Maybe the answer is here, not sure...

What was the key point at which you determined sleep apnea was the culprit, as I think most of cpap stuff is a $ game... I feel that the places that do the testing have a self interest in selling the product. Pls help me understand or debunk my idea that cpap stuff isn't over prescribed. Sorry to put you on the spot, but I am new to the Mayo site. TY, in advance.

CPAP is only a $$$ game when the patient is non-apneic/undiagnosed and wanting to part with their money, or diagnosed but given the wrong/more expensive equipment. People with a forma diagnosis, given at a sleep lab, will be advised to acquire PAP machinery if they have mild to severe apnea. Literally millions across the globe use the machines to good effect.
Again, it's only a numbers game if the patient is ignorant of their condition and don't follow a prescription for a bona fide need.

Somebody help me I cant sleep at night I did 2 sleep studies and I have severe sleep apnea but I cant afford the machine and all the bells and whistles I need for it. Is there a natural remedy that anybody knows about or any programs that help get your machine and stuff? I think I'm starting to go insane with maybe 3 hours of broken sleep a night HELP ME PLEASE. Any ideas?

If you are a US citizen, depending on your financial situation you might be eligible for Medicaid which may pay for the machine and any other necessary medical care and treatments.

Try Craigslist or other local markets and see if you can pick up a suitable machine (it has to be a model that will provide you with the correct therapy for your particular needs. Those needs are spelled out in the polysomnography report, a copy of which you should have). You could try the importers/manufacturers as a hardship case. Sometimes they provide refurbished machines at very low cost.
Failing that, avoid sleeping on your back, and I strongly....STRONGLY...urge you to purchase a soft foam cervical collar and to use it, even though it will be annoying, maybe even feel hot around your neck. You need to avoid chin-tucking while you sleep, especially if you end up on your back most of the night. That, and lose weight if you need to, and take a mild decongestant at bedtime if you have some stuffiness at times.
Note that this is what I would do, and what I have urged others in your circumstances to do. I am NOT a sleep specialist, not even a nurse or a doctor. If you need some encouragement or more information, check with your doctor, but also consider joining us at apneaboard.com forum. You can learn a lot at that site....tons!!

I'm so sorry! I have had sleep troubles also and now have a Cpap paid for by Medicare. It helps when it is working well but is a pain to adjust to and sometimes doesn't work well. If you had sleep studies done somewhere were they paid for somehow?
