Has anyone had right heart cath ?

My cardiologist thinks I might be experiencing HFPEF so he wants me to have a right heart excercise cath to test for it.

Has anyone had this done? And if so can you tell me what to expect. I’m really nervous about the proceedure. Mine is this Friday.

All I really know from what my cardiologist told me is that they will go in through my neck and the only pain management will be some lidocaine when they access and then “I should just feel pressure”. He said sedation wasn’t an option because it would mess with pressures.

I have had right heart Catheterization done before. They went in through my wrist and my carotid arteries. A local is used at the incision and you can feel their leads going into you. There is absolutely no pain whatsoever. Relax-you will be fine.

I had a heart catheterization left ventricle. It was absolutely painless. They go through your blood vessel Which has no pain receptors. They gave me some medication to relax me. It was over and done in 15 minutes. I was very nervous about it, but I didn’t feel a thing. Three weeks ago, I had an alcohol septal ablation, which is like a heart Cath, where they shoot some alcohol into the thick wall to reduce it. That was painless too. Just relax and enjoy the space age medicine.
