Hi, @tonyakimb. When will you be returning to work? Are you experiencing radiating pain in your neck today?

@smpresley - did you have any pain in your neck and chest as you talked about this morning or in the middle of the night last night?

I am 63 and had SCAD when I was 53 and then again at 60. It was discovered I have FMD in my coronary artery, carotid arteries and renal arteries. I’m very active and I workout about 5 days a week. Sometimes, in the morning or middle of the night, I can have pain in my neck and chest. It does subside when I take some deep breaths and try and relax. I try very hard to not let this condition keep me from enjoying life. I rely on my faith in Jesus. I find some peace in knowing He is caring for me.

Hi, I’m new here and also diagnosed SCAD and FMD everywhere. I am 39y and just had my 8th baby, after 6 days I felt chest pain and went to ER they found I am having SCAD and stayed in hospital for 2 days, during the hospital time they also did brain CT and kidney CT which figure out I am having FMD also. I feel so terrible and stressful for having such rare health issues. I am not fat at all and live a very healthy life, but now it looks like I am having very severe health issues and like I can’t live a long life, I feel so frustrated and hopeless, I don’t even exactly know what is this disease mean to me? Anybody can help me? Thank you! I need more information and more examples!

10/10/24 I experienced 2 SCAD attacks due to FMD. Is anyone else familiar with this? Like any condition, it is affecting my daily activity levels, and especially my nights full of fear.

Congratulations, @sue1986, for having your 8th baby. I have a sister-in-law who also has a big family, with 11 kids.

How is your recovery from your delivery going? How about from the chest pain you had from the SCAD? Has it gone away?

I understand what you are saying about relying on Jesus, I don’t know where I’d be without him. He is the one that brought me through all of this. I have talked to my cardiologist about that same pain in my neck and sometimes it radiates down into my stomach, I think it is normal as long as it goes away. Thank you for your comment.

Thank you for sharing your experience. My cardiologist also explained that the radiating pain (mine is chest up through neck), could be something like spasms. She, too, said as long as it doesn’t persist it’s okay. Again, I appreciate your sharing this with me.

I am really worried about going back to work, my Dr says I do not need to be stressed. I had a heart attack on January 23 due to the stress of my father passing. SCAD & FMD is my diagnosis. I have thought about filing for disability but not sure that is something I want to do right now, I am just 47 with no other medical issues.

I have FMD and went on short term disability at age 45 after strokes. Rest is most important for me to heal and try to work again. The anxiety is real tho.

I go back to work Tuesday, April 1st. I am really anxious but will not know how I will do until I get back.

Thank you so much for your kindness. My delivery recovery is all going well. Actually my chest pain just came like 30 mins, after that the pain went away, but the ER still used ambulances to take me to hospital to do some more tests and monitor my situation, they said it was SCAD, after 2 days stayed in hospital I was sent home. it did come back 3 days after I backed home, still like 30 mins and went away by itself, so I went to ER again and after doing a lot blood tests the doctor said it’s not happening again, so they just gave me one more medicine and released me.

Hi, @sue1986 - I applaud you for going to the ER to get checked out. I'm sorry you had to stay in the hospital for the SCAD with a brand new baby.

When was the last time you had the chest pain for 30 minutes and went to the ER? Has this recurred after being given another medication at the ER that time?
