Great job ! It is important to recognise triggers that make you want to use and find alternatives ways to cope with them.
You should be very proud of yourself.

Good luck. The meds are another tool to help stop drinking. But I suggest you continue with other resources; AA meeting, sponsor, therapist, etc.. The more resources / tools, the better your chance of staying sober.

The sad news is, most need to hit bottom with alcoholism & drug addiction in order for them to become teachable. Try not to become an enabler.

Keep it going.....it only gets better. Brutality of reality can be difficult, however; it is what most are running from...always remember, under any and all circumstances don't pick up a drink or a drug. God Bless You.

Self esteem is important to work on. Most people don’t realize that only you can control what you do everyday!
Alcohol and smoking and other bad issues can be stopped immediately forever by YOU taking back control of your life! Do it today!!

Self-esteem has very little to do with alcoholism and drug addiction. When you are living "one day at a time" asking for your Higher Powers Will for you each day. You just put one foot in front of the other show up for Life and live life on life's terms.

December 5th 2021 was my last drink. A couple of decades of drinking a fifth a day of warm vodka ended with a severe 3 day hangover. I tried 12 steps, smart recovery and researched a butt load before I realized that it wasn't about finding a program that worked for me. It was about finding me. My higher power became my determination. I've never had an urge to drink I couldn't shrug off. It was about telling myself I now had control. No longer did I identify as an alcoholic or dependent on anything. I identified as a person who previously had a drinking problem. That's how I talked myself into believing I was done. If you are convinced you are an alcoholic then indeed you are. I had convinced myself I needed a program because that's what everyone in a program said I needed. Boy were they wrong. The urges became fewer and far between. Recognizing the difference between a habit and an urge to drink was crucial to me. I exchanged the habit of having a bottle of alcohol with the habit of having water. Walking became my therapy. Having faith in myself was much greater than having faith in any higher power. I turned a 12 step program into a 1 step program. I became the program. Your life is in your hands.
