High parathyroid hormone (PTH) and calcium after transplant

My husband had a KT 2 years ago. He still has a high PTH 150 with calcium 10.6. Transplant team has not addressed this and he’s not seen an endo dr. He has all the symptoms of hyperparathyroidism. Not sure what to do at this point but feel like we should see someone to check it out. Anyone else experience high pth and any suggestions. He takes 50 mcg of D vit daily.

@sweetlips, Please accept my welcome as noticed that this is your 1st post. As a patient with a transplanted liver and kidney, I am not qualified or even familiar with how our transplant medicatiions affect our individual bodies. However, I am curious about whether you or your husband have spoken to his transplant team about your concern of symptoms of hyperparathyroidism. Sometimes we, see symptoms at home that are not obvious during a medical appointment. And sometimes our blood labs don't clearly indicate how a patient can be affected on an individual level.
I would suggest that you speak or message his transplant coordinator in advance of the labs to that she can be alert for any indications related to his high level. Another possibility that I might consider for myself would be to talk to my PCP because he/she could refer you to a specialist if he/she feels it is necessary. How often does your husband have labs drawn? Who prescribed the daily vitamin D?

He gets his labs drawn quarterly. He actually goes today.
We have spoken to his coordinator as of last week. She was quite adamant about not looking further into this.
Transplant team put him on D vitamin right after surgery.
We see his renal dr this week. We have addressed this once which was last quarter his reply was surgery would be the option and apparently they don’t want him to have surgery. We will bring it up again this week. They are hoping his PTH will come down on its on..which it has quite a bit since transplant but still abnormal.
