Any opinions about Zoloft or Sertraline?
My husband passed away almost a year ago. I do feel a little depressed sometimes. My pcp has prescribed 50 mg sertraline. I have not taken it yet as I do not want to depend on medication. My doctor said I can take half of the pill. Does anyone have any side effects with Setraline

Ope. You're right. Sertraline= Zoloft, Fluoxetine= Prozac. Prozac seems to work better for me.
I believe it’s the generic brand of Zoloft
I take it daily. I've had no side effects. My doctor put me on it bc he was on it and thought it would help with my anxiety. It has worked well for me.
I have tried many antidepressants and always come back to Zoloft/Sertraline. It is well tolerated by the majority of people and when combined with Wellbutrin can be extremely effective.
I am sorry for your loss and I hope you take your Doctors advice. I used to take 100mg of Zoloft for many years and cut my dosage to 50 mg. I think that is the smallest dosage it comes in.
The stigma of depression and anxiety has finally been lifted. Many athletes and everyday people have been coming forth with their stories.
Good luck to you.
Smallest is 25. On it 6 months. Started working 100mg day 2.
Maybe placebo effect. Maybe other variables (family crisis got resolved. No side effects. Mama don't take my sertraline away.😉
Sertraline really helped me deal with my depression. Don’t suffer. You can try it and if it doesn’t work or you feel you don’t need it anymore your Dr can take you off of it.
I recommend it. I have been on zoloft for almost 20 years (started in my 20s). I was on 50mg until I needed an increase to 75mg a year and a half ago due to extra anxiety due to a life situation. It has been a major help.
The only thing Zoloft ever did for me was add 5 pounds of extra water weight. But everyone's different. The fact that it didn't help me doesn't mean that it won't help you. That's a triple negative, so to simplify, it didn't help me but it may help you!
I had high expectations after hearing all the hype around Zoloft. However, it did absolutely nothing for me, and my depression got worse. It may work for you though. Everyone is different.
I’ve been prescribed the same dose, and it’s been making me feel quite bad. Ive been experiencing a bit of chest pain on my left side and it hurts a bit to take a deep breath, or take a breathe through my nose, it feels like I can only inhale through one of my nostrils, my throat feels sore and a bit tight like someone has their hand around it, and my mouth is tingly. My hands are also feeling fuzzy and sweaty. Accidentally missed yesterdays dose too so, that’s not fun. It also is feeling uncomfortable to swallow. I’ve also felt my feet hands and feet tingle (the feeling you get when they’re tryna go to sleep), dizziness, diarrhea, acid reflux, fever, and im more aware of my surroundings, im
bouncing my leg a lot more, frequent yawning, itchy head, trouble breathing correctly, burning sensation on my tongue and around my gums, and sharp chest pains, all in 8 to 9 maybe even 10 days within starting it. It’s not been fun at all. Talked to my pharmacist they recommended I stop or cut back. It’s been also destroying my appetite and making me loose weight. Before starting the medication, I was 125, now I’m lucky if it’ll let me get past 118
