I experienced internal vibrations beginning late 2020 and through 2022. These constant vibrations were especially strong in my face. I developed keratitis in both of my eyes. I felt as if the inflammation of my corneas was coming from my facial nerves vibrating. I also experienced vibrations in my chest, legs, and feet. I saw my primary dr., ophthalmologist, neurologist, and a rheumatologist to try to diagnose and treat the vibrations. I had two courses of steroid eye drops approximately six months apart to treat the keratitis. I had one course of oral steroids May of 2021 to treat the body vibrations. The steroids seemed to help. The keratitis did resolve, the vibrations now 4 years later have minimized. I do continue to get calf muscle and toe cramps that are severe and feel somehow ‘deeper’.
Trying to become as healthy as possible, I did alter my diet : no wheat products, alcohol, or sugar. Similar to the ‘whole 30’ guidelines. I have been following this over 2 years.
I don’t know if it was treatment with steroids during the acute phase, my diet changes, or simply time, but my internal vibrations have lessened 90%. I still experience the deep leg and toe cramps.
I appreciate all the new studies on IT. Only one of the doctors I saw at the time told me this was psychosomatic. This of course was distressing to hear. I recently contacted her through my healthcare patient advocacy office and provided her with new studies on long COVID and internal vibrations. She was receptive and called me to speak. I appreciated her doing this very much.
These symptoms are challenging and affect your life every day. This was my experience, thank you for sharing yours.

I have read your post and wanted to just say how sorry I am that you’re suffering. I too get extreme cramps in my upper, inner thigh on occasion if I’m on my feet a lot, during the night. Excruciating and debilitating until they finally let up which could last about 5-10 minutes! I’ve been drinking LMNT which is an Electrolyte Powder that you can order on Amazon. There is 1000 mg of sodium, 200 mg. Potassium and 60 mg of Magnesium. Very potent and since I’ve been drinking these, my cramps come much less often and are not as strong or last as long. I wish you good health on your journey!

Hi everyone, I am brand new on Mayo Connect and am actually heading to Mayo Clinic next month to be seen for Post-Covid Syndrome. I've had a bit of success with my local neurologist with symptom management around my tremors and muscle spasms from small fiber neuropathy that started a couple of months ago through medication treatment.
Hi Guys I'm new also, I'm reaching out in distress as I have been suffering internal head tremors since 3rd Pfizer vac and Also mild case of COVID back in 2021 it started when falling asleep and waking up, these days I fall asleep ok but wake around 2:30 am to use the bathroom it's upon returning to sleep I tremor inside me head and I can get back to sleep, I have had an MRI to rule out MS etc, I live in Sydney Australia and I'm 47, male, there Times I don't tremor but very rarely, I've been taking magnesium and a natural sleeping pill when needed, I can't get help anywhere here, there just telling me I have anxiety, I was a great sleeper and could easily sleep for an hour in the afternoon, these days an afternoon nap is lucky to last ten minutes then the tremors start and I wake, I'm am at wits end to be honest and would appreciate any help. Kind regards Dan

Hi @dan56. First so sorry you are going thru this and know this group is a great support place. What you are describing is so familiar to so many here and confident you will find helpful experiences/techniques……to help you. Not to discourage but know this is still so new in the medical community world and each person affected so differently with their specific medical history. Having a trained Neuro Physical Therapist and Trauma Level Mental Health Provider can assist thru things like box breathing for covid created symptom of anxiety which creates many symptoms, food/reaction diary to pinpoint foods etc creating middle of night waking histamine release and its symptoms, nerve conduction study to rule out other causes and then focus on helpful lifestyle changes. Many here can assure you with the time your body needs and focus on changes this situation requires, you will notice improvement to build on, have grateful hope, and joy. Quickest healing to you🌈

I’m sorry, I know how you feel. I think I said those exact words to my primary care physician!
Give me a chance to contact him to pull up my record and I will get back to you.

Yes, this is tough. I also had the MS work up, MRI, etc. it’s hard to explain that your head, face, etc is vibrating, and feels like tremors or like your funny bone when you hit your elbow.
First, Google COVID and internal tremors. There are articles on the latest studies;
From Yale school of medicine:
‘internal Tremors: Adding to the list of Long COVID Symptoms’
August 26, 2024 Freida Kreier
‘Characterization of internal tremors and vibration symptoms’
BMJ Open 2023 Dec 28;13(12)
On page 13 of the BMJ Open study, sleep disturbances due to tremors is specifically addressed.
Bring a copy with you for your doctor. Vibrations are difficult for physicians to understand as they can’t view outwardly what you are experiencing.
In the meantime…
Ice packs on my face helped, along with meditation and acupuncture for relaxation.
