Has anyone taken trazodone (Desyrel) for insomnia. If so, what was your experience with it?

I have tried both zolpidem and trazadone for insomnia. They both made me toss and turn half the night and suffer with restless legs also. Is this common?

Has anyone taken trazadone for sleep. My doctor gave me a low dose but not sure of side affects. I don't really like taking pills. Have had a hard time sleeping for awhile. Melatonin doesn't work

I have been taking Trazodone for sleep for a few months. It works great.
I don’t like taking pills either, but I do like sleeping through the night.

I have taken Trazadone for several years. It works fine with me. I take it about 2 1/2 hours before I get ready for bed. It helps my mind slow down so I can go to sleep. Getting the right dosage is the key. And, as with everything, it doesn't work for everyone. I have had no side effects.

I've been takin Trazadone for years with no side effects.

I took a low dose (25 mg because I am sensitive to drugs) for approximately 4 years due to working different shifts and it worked beautifully with no side effects until it stopped working-at any dose. Seemingly overnight I could no longer sleep on my own and I suffered from horrible insomnia, anxiety (which I had never had before) and depression. As with any drug, it can stop working and leave you in a worse place before you started. I tried it again several years later at 75 mg but it caused severe dry mouth and a very stuffy nose which I couldn’t tolerate. Wish I had never started a sleep medicine to begin with.

I have been taking 100 mg of trazadone and 10 mg of Ambien nighty for over 1 year. no side effects and they seem to work. I also just started using a red light device in hopes it will work so I can get off the drugs. the Helight Sleep device is based on a NASA study using astronauts. Hopefully it's just not another medical device scam. Let the buyer beware.

I think I'll pass up on the trazadone. Didn't really want to take it. The two nights I did take it left me nauseous and restless all night and feeling weird the next day
