Mirtazapine(Remeron) and Fluoxetine (Prozac).
Is anyone on this combination? I am on Fluoxetine and mu doctor would like to add Mirtazapine. If you are on this combination, what is it like for you? How long did it take for you to feel better? What are the side effects? Did they subside after a while or stayed the same?
How much did it improve your quality of life overall?

I haven’t been on this combination of medication but I have been on them separately. Prozac/fluoxetine cases brain zaps when dose increased from 20mg to 40mg so I stopped.
When I was put on mirtazapine, I stopped after one day due to significant increase in appetite and I cannot afford to gain more weight.
I am now on 75 mg Zoloft/sertraline and Wellbutrin/bupropion 300mg and it is working really well. I have been suffering with major depression for the last 1.5 years and so glad to have finally found a combination that works for me.
My doctor also tried me on Abilify/aripiprazole which is an antipsychotic along with Wellbutrin/bupropion but the Abilify caused increased pain and difficulty walking which was scary. I stopped this after a month and the symptoms worsened when the dosage increased.
Are you working with a psychiatrist to help manage your medications? Many primary doctors struggle to treat mental health conditions and don’t have the time or patience to spend with these patients to fine tune medications over a long period of time.
I am on the combination now. Can't speak for you only for myself. but been on Prozac for over twenty years, and up until the Holidays (got covid) and knocked me for a loop. Was placed on Remeron Feb 28th. 15 mg before bedtime (1/2 tab) it makes me jittery and sleepy most of the following day. Wears off later in the evening slowly. I don't have a appetite, it is suppose to help(not yet) Good Luck
Most antidepressants will cause some weight gain but it’s usually temporary, on the other hand Mirtazapine really gives you a big appetite which I could use but I couldn’t handle the other side effects so I got off this medication after two months.
