Anyone taking Mirtazapine? Is it working for you? Any side effects?
Has anyone been taking Mirtazapine? Like to know if they have taken themselves off and how did you do it?

no ,only been on it since 2/28/25, and I am about to take myself off. Can't stand the side effects (shakes)until late evening and drowsy.
15mg b4 bed
Have been taking mirtazapine for years for depression (the only antidepressant that I can take as all others made me more anxious. ) But I didn't know that mirtazapine is remeron. I thought remeron was taken for restless leg syndrome. Confusing??
Oh meant to say only side effect of mirtazapine that I have noticed is weight gain. But then almost all antidepressants I took also had weight gain as a side effect. Otherwise, I haven't noticed any side effects. I really did try all antidepressants that are out there and even a cocktail of a couple but nothing helped with depression like Mirtazapine. I take 30mg. before bed.
I am on week 4 of remeron for anxiety. Titrated from 7.5 to 15 mg. I think it has helped with no adverse side effects. Now I have been increased to 30 mg I am wondering if you take it at bed time or for example, an hour before. I am just nervous about increasing the dose. and looking for any tips from your experience. Ty.
I take the 30 mg. Right before going to bed as it does make me very sleepy. I have been taking for years now so I don't think that my body will adjust any better regarding sleepy feeling
Thanks for your response, I hope it makes me sleepy!
I take it with all my night pills before I go upstairs to go to bed. Then I read for about 15-20 minutes and all the pills kick in. It helps me sleep. I also do cycles of diaphragmatic breathing to lessen my anxiety. I fluctuate between 15 and 30 mg. of mirtazapine depending on how early I have to get up.
Thanks for your response. I took 30 mg last night and found my anxiety worse today. I know there may be an uncomfortable period when increasing the dose, but I have surgery scheduled next week and feel it is not a time to risk more anxiety. I did not find the 30 mg made me sleepy. You are lucky! I struggle with sleep and I think the lower dose helps me sleep better, although I am not sure about anxiety. I plan on giving the 15 mg a good 6-8 weeks before considering an increase. Any other tips or things you’ve learned about Mirtazipine, I’d love to know.
Thank you!
I started Mirtazapine a few weeks ago with good resuts and no side effects. Tat said, evertone responds differently to medication. Talk to your doctor about trying a different medication. I had to go through several before I found one that worked fof me. Hang in there.
