Can long covid cause this blurry vision?

Posted by ariza9110 @ariza9110, Sep 18, 2024

hey, so since I got what I think was covid 3 months ago and I remember being sick for a couple of days and since then I have this problem where my vision constantly becomes blurry, I focus my vision and 1 second after it unfocuses and my vision becomes blurry, it is really hard for me to read text because of this and I also have this issue of vision becoming blurry and I need to "focus" my vision again when seeing things that are far from me also, I went to an eye doctor and he did a eye test without dilation which was fine and she sent me to do oct which I did but didn't receive the results yet, did anyone experienced something similar with covid and it went away? I am scared I am going blind.

Due to blurriness, I can no longer read the paper, but not sure if it is due to Long Covid or worsening cataracts. 😢 No doubt the LC ain’t helping!

I am having eye issues as well. Long Covid 4.2 years. I was so happy to go to my eye exam 2 years ago, I think it was. I thought my blurry vision, and eye twitches were just because I needed to update my prescription. I was incorrect. My eyesight did not change but a slight bit. Not enough to warrant the expense of a new set of glasses.
I spoke to my Neurologist about it and some other heath issues that make no sense. He said straight up - your brain is not communicating to other parts of your body correctly - Long Covid. It’s a virus stuck in our bodies and attacks us at will. I’ve tried so many different diets, acupuncture, IV’s w/NAD, and so many combinations of prescription medications to help get me back on my feet. This is unbelievable. I hope you both find relief from your Long Covid.
Please share if you do! There is nothing better we Long Haulers love to hear about more than success that bring us all hope.
XO

I love how doctors just slap a label on us and say, you have Long Covid! I’m sick of it!!! I have had no taste or smell for over 2 years now and that’s all I keep hearing, but not one doctor has said, let’s get to the bottom of this and find out what is actually going on with you! I’ve been doing my own research and then when I do talk to a doctor about my theory, they say well, you probably won’t ever get your taste or smell back because it’s been over a year! Really, what research do you have to back that up? None! I’m so angry…

i am familiar w/using your blood for the eye issues as my optometrist suggested that; it sounds like you have/had something different in terms of how dry your eyes are...mine now gush and water and i've tried all eye drops; think a few mo. ago i had temporary eye plugs put in but with the post covid brain fog, i can't remember if they helped or not. i see the optometrist next week. many many yrs. ago i had bleph surgery which i believe was the main reason why i have dry eyes as eyelids don't close completely while sleeping but i think the virus has definitely affected my eyes as well as so many other body parts. so happy you're getting relief finally.

Viruses love eyes. Nice warm wet cozy environments. Now that you folkd mention it, I've had increased eye irritation and dryness since COVID.

Back to basics: I went and got a jar of boric acid and an eye cup. I mix the powder up with good clean, pure water (distilled or most bottle probably OK) as directed and rinse the eyes - feels strange at first but oh, so good later.

Read the labels on the eye drops packages: The ingredients most likely include boric acid.

I have no doubt that Long Covid includes blurry vision. Within the past year I had cataracts removed from both eyes and got new eyeglasses for near, mid-range (for computer) and distance vision. Was told my vision had been corrected to approximately 20/20. However, blurred vision occurs at any time day or night at any distance as though eye glass prescriptions were inaccurate. Recently had vision re-checked, but results remained as originally found. Even with surgeries, very expensive eyewear, re-checking vision and using recommended drops for dry eyes I still have intermittent blurred
vision. Often we are OUR OWN doctors! Covid has affected us from “head to toe.” The one positive aspect is we have one another for sharing, learning, understanding, and mitigating the feelings of isolation….hats off to all of us! 😊
