Tips on minimizing withdrawal symptoms from Effexor (aka Venlafaxine)
I have been taking Effexor/Venlafaxine for years and tried to get off it a few times but each time I try to give up the chemical withdrawal symptoms are a horror story and I give up giving up. Anyone got any tips or tried and tested strategies? Thank you

They sure are!!!
When I was recovering from my 2nd spinal surgery, I'd call my daughter up to bring over my 'medicine'.
She knew exactly what I meant.
Bring over my 8yo granddaughter for hugs and kisses, laughs and giggles.
The BEST!!!!!

@grandmar My little guy is my best medicine too!! He can't come this week because his daddy's took him out of town. the car seat thing I can't do. 🙁
@brightwings Others may be feeling the same. I know I am feeling extremely confused. We are all wired differently. Many are not used to being trapped in bodies that can no longer perform. I tell myself I am still ambulatory and can still drive some. I have done many things in my life. I think of young people who are injured in accidents being trapped in young bodies that can no longer perform. We have much to be grateful for-my input. Can understand how you are feeling punished. Old messages are hard-wired.
You sound plenty busy even though not as busy as you would like to be. Time to rest and collect our thoughts and not go running willie-nillie. It can be challenging.
@iowaellen27- Good morning and welcome to Connect. I agree with you. It's wonderful that they see all sides of you, it makes you real to them. And the more they see you the better the bond!
There's another time.
Gee, the best I can do is eat only whole foods, try to exercise as best as I can. This doesn't work but it may be worse if I did not. This keeps my budget tight. The system is set up to have the government and large drug companies in control and the powers that be.
I am thankful to no longer be on antidepressants/antipsychotics. These must help some as they are still being used. Effexor made me vicious and cruel and left me struggling with not being this way towards others. Maybe this is what is wrong with some people. Surely there should not be so much anger in the world.
This is how they are taught and what they believe. Prescribe a pill and everything will be fine. Hogwash!!!
My apologies. His daddy's work took his daddy out of town. Forgot to proofread closely. Mind going way too fast.
NP.....LOL!
@parus- I think that I have addressed this one before. But thinking that we are being punished for something so far out of our control doesn't make sense, does it? Why do we assume that some force is punishing us? We need to focus on how we can make learn from things that have happened. Did we have a role in mistakes that make us feel punished? It's time for all of us to stop this, and retrain our brains!
