Falling off a bike?
Since I started using clip in pedals on my bike, I've taken a couple of falls. Neither was pretty. I pretty much was still clipped in and hit pretty hard.
Anyone know how dangerous this is? Thinking I should lose the clip in pedals, but I hate to see them go.

I broke my leg after taking a fall while doing MTB, I was clipped in. In my case I don't think the clips were a factor, I was taking a curve over wooden slats and did not have enough speed, and I believe my foot came off the clip but as I was falling the pedal hit my leg and that's how it broke. As incredibly painful as all that was, it saved my life as it was how they found my 5.2 aneurysm.
Clips are tricky and especially if you are making frequent stops like traffic lights, if you are using your bike more for commute or city riding, cages may be better.
I'm an enthusiast, not an expert, there are a lot of discussions in Reddit about the subject.
Keep riding though!!!!!
Did your doctor give you any advice about riding with the aneurysm?
Well, in my case i had the aneurysm repair 3 months after my leg surgery as the surgeon recommended I had it as soon as possible but I needed to be able to walk. So never got to exercise while knowing I had it. I had done a lot of intense biking though while it was large but didn’t know I had it.
If your biking is not intense to raise your heart rate to high levels, there should not be an issue.
I have been mountain biking for approximately 35 years and I’ve even ridden in some endurance races during that time. Yes, clipless pedals are a challenge. If you are not riding enough to get used to them, especially in the woods I would recommend that you go to a cage pedal until you are proficient at getting in and out of the clipless pedals As far as riding, my cardiologist said keep doing it. It’s good for the heart.
I was riding a lot at high elevation and with elevation changes but once my AAA was found the thoracic specialist told me to stop immediately which I did. Now I walk instead. They have me a limit of 125 bpm. Apparently the stress and high heart rate when going uphill could cause a failure. Funny enough my local cardiologist told me to continue doing what i was doing. I listened to the specialist and stoped as much as I miss it a lot.
